HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-19-1948 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, APRIL 1.9,1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of Richmond,I_ndiana met in Regular Session in the office of the Board, Friday April 19th, 1948, at 9:00 a.m Messrs. E.G. Coleman, presiding and the following members present Mr. E.W. Ross and Mr. C.M. Haworth. The following business was had to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Sanitary Inspector, Qlaude Bozarth, repotted that he had investigated the complaints of water conditions at the following places, S.W. 16th St. ,and 1642 South 6th St. Property owner at S.W. 16th St. will take care of the condition within thb next 30 days. The Board advised the Inspector to get immediate action from the property owner at 1642 So. 6th St. Mr. Fields request of a parking restricted space in front of 412 North 19th was not reccomended by the Traffic Div. Chief of Fire Dppt, L. Williams reccomended that the Tate Cleaners elevate the smoke stack at that plant to eliminate the smoke and soot conditions in that locality. The Board advised Mr. Williams to following through on this and see that the order is carried out. Mr. Ridgeway, Park Supt. advised the Board that he had authorised the remov- ing of dead trees on S.W. °C° St. and 2nd. and also one at North 19th St. near the overhead bridge at the Railroad. Mayor L.E. Meadows requested that an investigation of the temporary building on the curb at East Main and 30th Street be made. This creates a hazard to the motorists that are traveling on this Street. The Board referred this to the Building Inspector to investigate. The Board approved the request of Mr. Meadows, that of the hanging of a large base ball over Main Street at Ninth Street, when the Richmond Braves are play- ing at home. The Board approved the reps .cing of Air Diffusers at the Disposal Plant with new type diffusers at no cost to the City for the replacements. Mr. Ross, City Engineer, advised the Board that Mr. Steeg would be in the city Friday, April 23,1948 in regards to the survey of the Disposal Plant Expansion Program. Mr. C.M. Haworth advised the Board that a new contract between Mr. Carl Thomp- son and the City of Richmond in regards to the Waste,Taper containers that are now on the city streets. This contract to be presented to the Board for approv- al. The request of a one car parking restricted zone in fronds of Dr. Tom S. Shields, 47 South 11th St. was referred to the Traffic Div. to .investigate. The Board approved the cutting of the curb as requested by Ray Headington, So . 20th and E St. , for a driveway. 246 • The Board aoijroved the claims in the amount of $ A 444C • J 9 There being no. further business to be brought before the Board, Mr. Haworth moved that the Board adjourn, seconded by Mr. Ross and carried unanimously by the Board, • President Attest.:__ Cler_kr
