The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the office of the Mayort,s, Friday March,26,1948 at 9:00 o'clock A.M. Messrs. H.G. Coleman, S.W. Hodgin and C.M. Haworth being present the following business was had tolwit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. H. Brelage,1205 Harris St. , complaint of his nieghbors ashpit being too close to the property line was referred to the Building Inspector to invest- igate. The complaints of Mrs. Patton and Mrs. Jackson of the dumping of garbage and trash too close their property located in Morton Lake section was referred to the Health and Sanitation Dept. to investigate. March 26th,1948 at 9:30 a.m. being the date and time set to receive bids on Street Material. Bids were received from the American Aggregates and W.L. Magaw Co. Thes bids were referred to the Street Dept. Supt. and the City Engin eer to tabulate and make- their report back to the Board. The Committee that tabulated the bids for the new Fire Dept Pumper reported t the following; . Bid of Maxim Motor Company 1-each; Model 2417,750-G.P.M. triple combination motorized pumping fire apparatus,with 2-stage series-parallel Hale centrifugal fire pump, and Hercules RXLD 558" cubic inch fire service motor, with canopy cab holding a full crew of 7 men $ 15 167.53 If 7-man fully enclosed four door sedan type of cab is desired, add to the above $ 330.00 or 1-each; Model 2357, 750-G.PM. triple combination motorized pumping fire apparatus,witn 2-stage series-parallel Hale centrifugal fire pump,and Hercules HXC 779 cubic. inch fire service motor, with canopy cab holding a full crew of 7 men - $ 16,167.53 . Mack Manufacturing Co. 1- Mack Yype 85 Triple combination pumper complete per specif- ications contained in the attached Red Proposal Booklet which is hereby made a part of this bid. F.O.B. Richmond,Indiana The Fire Chief,Lester Williams, reccomended that the Board accept the bid of the Maxim Company. Mr. Haworth made a motion that the recco endation of Mr. Williams be accepted and Mr. Hodgin seconded this motion. The Board unanimously approved and was so ordered. Chief of Police,L. Rohe asked permission of the Board to change the auto parking zones near Warner School and Sevastopol School for thm protection of the school children. This was approved by the Board. Chief of the Fire Dept. reccomended to the Board that Rodrick Rohe be appointed as probationary fireman as of April 1,1948. Mr. Haworth made a motion that the reccomendation of Mr. Williams be accepted. Mr. Hodgin seconded this motion and the Board approved unanimously . The Park Board requested that the Board investigate the Street and Gutter conditions near the Municipal Ball Park. This request was referred to the Street Dept. and the City Engineer and thier report to' be presented at the next meeting of the Board. The Board was advised that the Weights and Measure Insecptor, Mr. Snavely, would attend the Thirty-fifth Annual Conference of the Indiana Inspector of Weights and Measures to be held at Port Wayne,Indiana, April S,9,and l0th,191+8. Mayor, Meadows announced the appointment of Ed. Ross as City Engineer to replace Mr. S.W. Hodgin who is retiring due- to ill health. Mr. Hodginos bond to be can- celed and the Bond of $ 1,000.00 as required be taken out in favor of Mr. Ross to the City of Richmond,Indiana. Mr. Meadows said,"that Richmond was losing one of its most sincere public officials and in his nine years of working with Mr. Hodgin had been a pleasure. It was Mr. Meadows hope that Mr. Hodgin would come to his aid whenever his advice was needed. Mr. Hodgin said his service wal available whenever the occasion came up. His time spent as apublic o.fficia.l,an Pr �swas his desire to see Richmond p �d go on growing as it has in the past. .After allowing claims in the amount of $ .?S.S. /4" ,Mr. Hodgin moved that the Board adjourn and Mr. Haworth seconded the motion.
