OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY,
CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA,FRIDAY,M RCH .5th,1948.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana,met in
regular session in the office of the Board,Friday, March 5th,1948 at 9:00 a.m.
o'clock. Messrs: H.G. Coleman, S.W. Hodgin.and C.M. Haworth being present the
following business was had to-wit;

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Haworth and Mr. Meadows reported that the Penna. R.R. officials had been
given final notice on the lenghhy blocking of the railroad crossings here.
T#e Railroad officials said everything possible would be done to make the
actions of arrests unnecessary.
The Board. authorized Roy Hardy to go to Middleboro Mass. to inspect Fire
Apprartus.
Complaints of dead trees on North °D""8treet and North 14th Street were re-
fereed to mL.Ridgeway to inspect and report to the Board.
Mr. Ross complaint of water running from a catch basin on Liberty Ave. was
referred to the Street Dept. to check and report to the Board.
The Board authorized and instructed the Clerk to Advertize for bids for
Street Material to be accepted at 9 30 a.m. March 26th,1948.
Councilman Russell's recommendation that the City Engineer investigate the
possibility of a Storm Sewer in the South end was presented to the Board.
City Engineer, S.W. Hodgin recommended to the Board that the 1949 budget in-
clude the amount necessary to build a South-end Storm Sewer.
Councilman Marino' s complaint on the condition of the Streets in the Morton
lake ad.ition was brought before the Board. Mr. Hodgin advised the Board that
Maple Drive and Elm Drive were not incorporated as City Streets and the City
isn't obligated to keep said Streets in condition. Mr. Burkhart stated that
he would continueplacing cinders and material necessary to keep them in temp
porary condition.
Councilman Myers complaints on the alley condition on North 16th, South of
°J"" Street was referred to the Street Dept. City Attorney,Haworth stated that
the complaint of Wayne Works trucks running onto the prperty owners land on
North 18th Street was a Civil matter and should be treated as such.
Mr. William Hays appeared before the Board requesting a building to house
activities of the Senior Scouting activity. The Board suggested that Mr. Hays
and Mr. Ridgeway inspect the N.YA. building at the Glen Park and report to
the Board if desirable for their purpose.
Mr. Ross, Disposal Plant Supt. , recommended to the Board that the Henry Steeg
& Associates anz'Indianapolis firm be retained as consulting engineers for the
proposed Sewage Plant expansion. Mr. Hodgin moved and Mr. Haworth seconded
the motion that the reccomendation of the Henry Steeg & Associates be retain-
ed as Consulting Engineers for the expansion of Sewage Plant empnnst4u. The
Board approved this unanimously.
The Board authorized the Engineering Dept. to inquire as to the price of a
Panel truck and trade in value and report back to the Board.

Councilman Tracy's complaint of heavy trucks breaking the curbs was taken
under advisement by the Board.
After allowing claims in the amount of $ 73/R. G� there being no
further business,the Board adjourned.
