The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana,met in regular session in the office of the Board,Friday, February 27th,1948 at 9:00 A.M. ol1lock. Messrs. H.G. Coleman, C.M. Haworth and S.W. Hoggin being present the following business was had to-wit: The request of a parking space in front of Whitley' s Dry Cleaners,1604 E. Main Street was referred to the Traffic Division. The request of barricading the alley North of the Kenny and Bobs Tavern, on North Seventh Street, to make repairs to this building was approved by the Board for the temporary period. required for remodeling. Mr. Meadows, Mayor, presented to the Board written complaints from the Indiana Railroad in regards to the blocking of traffic at the North Sth Street R.R. crossing. The Board authorized and instructed the Mayor and City Attorney to contact the Railroad officials and inform them that prosecution will be en- forced if this aggravated matter isn1t abolished immediately. • Upon recommendation of L. Ridgeway,Park Supt., the Board approved that the trees in front of the properties at 119 South 4th Street, 205-207 South 5th Street be removed. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the property owners:., The Board approved that Mr. Ridgeway make an investigation of the condition of the tennis courts at the Glen Park and report to the Board. A Declaratory Resolution was presented to the Board No. 2-1948 in accord- ance with a petition to vacate an alley known and descrbed in the following Resolution. Resolved; by the Board. of Public Works and Safety of Richmond, in the State of Indiana,that it is :desiredrpnd deemed necessary to vacate the first alley North of North "A" Street West from North Fourth Street to the first alley running Southwardly in the City of Richmond,County of Wayne, and State of Ind- iana,which alley proposed to be vacated is more Earticulary described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at apoint on the West line of orth Fourth Street at the South-east corner of Lot number 19 in J,M. Law's Addition to the City of= Rich momd,Indiana, which point bon the North line of .said alley proposed to be vac- ated; thence West, along the North line of said alley proposed for vacation,to the East line ,extendtd, Northwardly, of the first alley running Southwardly Ten (10.00) feet to the North-west corner, of Tract number 143 of the Official map of said City of Richmond, which is on the South line of said alley propos- ed for vacation;thence East, along the South line of said alley proposed for vacation, to the West line of North Fourth Street;Bence North,Fourth Street, Ten (10.00) feet to the place of begining. All as shown by a plat of such proposed vacation now on file in the office of the apartment of Public Works and Safety of Said City. The property which may be injuriously or heneficially affected in the said City of Richmond by said proposed vacation is known as the alley herein proposed to be vacated and the lots abutting on the alley and both sides thereof,owned by Loucke & Hill Company Said Board has fixed Friday,March 19th,1948 at 9:30 a.m. as the date upon which remonstrances may be filed or presented by persons in or effected by said Resolution and proposals, and on said day, the Board will meet at its office for thr purpose of hearing and considering any remonstrances which may have Continued- .230 have been filed or presented, and for the purpose of taking.final action thereon. Reeg CLERK OF THE BOARD 11/ The Board unaimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 2-1948. Friday, February 27th,1948, being the date designated by the Board for the receiving of bids for the new Panel truck for the City Engineering Department. The Board did not receive a bid on this truck. Friday, February 27th,194S,being the date designated by the Board for the receiving of bids for the 750 gallon Pumper for the Fire Dept. Bids were open- ed at the hour -set, 9:30 a.m. Bids were received from the following; Mack Co. The American LaFrance Truck. Corp. Maxim Co. , and Seagrave Corp. A letter was received the Ward LaFrance Truck Corp ,stating they couldn't bid on the said specification of Fire truck. The bids were referred to a committee composed of Fire Chief, City Engineer and City Attorney to tabulate and recommend their report to the Board. The request of the Animal Welfare league to construct an animal shelter in the City of Richmond,Indiana was referred to the City Engineer Dept. for further study.
