FEBRUARY 20,19I The Board of puhlic Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana met in Regular session in the office of the Board, Friday, February 20th,194g at 9:00 o'clock a.m. Messrs. H.G. Coleman, C.M Haworth and S.W. Hodgin being present the following proceedings were had toawit: The minutes of the previous meeting wereread an approved. Mr. Johnson of the Locke and Hill Co. appeared before the Board requesting the vacation of an alley between North jrd and North 4th Street. This re- quest was referred to the City Engineer to prepare a Resolution for the vac- ation of said alley. Mr. J.M.Mercurio°s proposal for leasing a part of the Market House was again taken under advisement for further study by the City Attorney,C.M. Hawo±th. Upon recommendation of Fire Chief,L. Williams the Board approved that Joseph Brannon be promoted to a regular fireman as of February 16th,19)4S. It was so ordered. Mr. Ross, Disposal Plant Supt. requested that the Board cooperate with Earl- ham College in regards to aiding the College in cleaning-up in the Clear Creek bottom in the rear of the college. Mr. Ross requested that the Board consider some changes that are necessary in the sewer system. This was referred to the City Engineer Dept. for study and investigation. Mr. Ross also adised the Board that considerable damage could be done to the to the control room of the Earlham College Disopsal Plant if the shooting of high powered rifles were not subsided. Earlham College will give its full sup- port in trying to end this pradtise of shooting at the Pump house. Councilman Baldwin presented a petition with 129 signatures of taxpayers re- questing Street lights under the two viaducts on N.W. 2nd Street. This was re- ferred to the City Engineer to eepptt to the Light Plant and their investigat- ion to be reported to the Board. Councilman Myers presented a petition to the Board with 24 taxpayers signa- tures attached requesting Strret lights at North 19th and Maple Drive and North 19th and Elm Drive. This request was referred to the City Engineer to report to the Light Plant for their investgation to be reported to the Board. Mr. Ben Burman presented a petition to the Board requesting permission to cut the curb for a driveway off 2nd Street at a point 50 feet South of South line of Main Street. This was approved by the Board and so ordered. Mr. Lorin Grimm of the Knowles Tool Co. presented a petition requesting per- mission of the Board to make a "factory curb" in front of the Knowles Tool Co. building on South seventh Street,150 feet, and park cars up to the East edge (Street side) of sidewalk. This was approved by the Board and so ordered. Mr. Burkhart reported that the complaint of water standing in the gutt-r on North 12th Street had been taken care of. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the property owner of lots No.13 & 14 to take immediate action on the repairing of the sidewalk on the North "A" Continued 228 Street side.
