The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana,met in
Regular session in the office of the Board, Friday, February,13th,1948 at
9:00 o'clock A.M. Messrs H.G.Coleman, C.M. Haworth and S.W. Hodgin Wang
present the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the previuos meeting were read and approved.
Mr. J.M. Mercurio appeared before the Board with a written proposal in regards
to the leasing of part of the Market House. This proposal was taken under ad-
visement until the next meeting of Feb.20th,194S.
Mr. Ross,Supt. Disposal Plant, Requested permissio4, to purchase new controls
for pumps at Earlham dispolal plant to replace old worn ones. Upon a proper
motion by Mr. Hodgin and seconded by C. Haworth the Board approved Mr. Ross
request and it was so ordered.
The Public Health Nursing Assn. presented the Board a petition for a restrict-
parking area in front of 26 South Seventh Street. Upon proper motion by Mr.
Haworth and pconded by S.W. Hodgin the Board approved the Public Health Nurs-
ing Assn. a 4. 6Pcar parking restricted area in front of 26 South Seventh Street
for Doctors and Nurses Only. This was approved by the Board and so ordered.
Upon recommendation of Chief of Polce,L. Rohe that the Wayne County Sheriff
Department be granted permission for a six (6) car restricted parking area in
front of the Wayne County Court House on South Fourth Street. Upon proper
motion by Mr. Haworth and seconded by Mr. Hodgin the Board approved the re-
quest of the Wayne County Sheriff for restricted parking area in location
named. It was so ordered.
The bids for Police cars,Dump trucks and Panel truck were brought before the
Board for their approval.
Mr. A. Burkhart recommende that the Board accept the bid of the Brower Motors,
Inc. for two 1948 Studebaker dump trucks in the amount of $4,871.48 for both
with trade in allowancgs of $285.74 for the 1938 Dodge truck, and $385.74 for
the 1937 Dodge truck. Total amount $4,200.00 with a refund on the Excise tax.
Mr. Haworth moved and Mr. Hodgin seconded the motion that the recommendation
of the purchase of the two 194E Studebaker dump trucks be allowed. This was
approved by the Board and so ordered. The bids of Wickett Motors Service and
Wallar,Inc. being rejected.
Mr. Hodgin recommended that the Waller Motors,Inc. bid for two Police be
accepted. The bid was Two 194S,Ford Deluxe Tudor that meet with specifications
priced at $2,786.44 for both with a trde in allowance on the 1946 Tudor Chev-
rolet of $850.00 and on the 1946 Sedan $900.00. The total price being $1P36.44
less $120.66 Federal tax, making a total net of $915.78. Upon proper motion by
Mr. Haworth and seconded by Mr Hodgin that the bid of Waller Motors ,Inc. be
accepted. This was approved by the Board and so ordered. The bids of the
Willoghby Chevrolet Co, being rejected.
One bid was received from the Willoghby Chevrolet Co. on the Panel truck for
the Engineering Dept. This bid was rejected for easons of not coming up to the
specfications in regards to the allowance on old Panel truck.
The Clerk of the Board was instructed to re advertise for new bids for a Pan-
el truck for the Engineering Dept. to be received Friday Feb.27th,1948 at 9:50

Mr. A. Burkhart advised the Board that his department had made an investi-
gation of Councilman Marino complaint of corn cob burning on South 4th Street
and found nothing.
There being no further business the Board allowed claims in the amount of
$ a7 sa 6.4,6ā and upon proper motion adjourned. -
