OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA
FRIDAY,JANUARY 23rd,1948
The Board of Public Works and Safety of Richmond,Indiana,met in regular ses-
11/ sion in the office of the Board, Friday,January 23rd,1948 at 9:00 a.m. Messrs.
Harold Coleman, Clifford M. Haworth and Hodgin being present the follow-
ing proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Upon reccomendation of Mayor Meadows, Mr. Haworth moved and Mr. Hodgin sec-
onded a motion that tiAe Junior Chamber of Commerce of the City of Richmond,Ind
iana be granted permission the use of the UrS; Armyksound truck in cooperation
with the March of Dimes Drive to cover any district in the City of Richmond,
Indiana. This permission to be effective through Saturday,January 31,194+8. This
was approved by the Board.
Upon reccomendation of Lucas Rohe, Police Chief, Mr. Hodgin moved and Mr.
Haworth seconded a motion that Eugene E. Shores be added to the Police Dept.
and his probationary period to begin as of Febrary 1,1948. This was Approved
by the Board.
Mr. Hodgin moved and Mr. Haworth seconded that the resignation of Urban
Bussen from the Police Department as of January c1,1948 be accepted. This was
approved by the Board.
Mr. Ross, Disposal Plant Supt. , asked for autorization to sell Aeration
plates as junk. This plates being of no further use for the Plant. Mr. Hodgin
moved and Mr. Haworth seconded a motion that Mr. Ross be gaanted permission
to sell Aeration plates as junk and reputt to the Board. This was approved by
the Board. •
Mr. L.Ridgeway asked for authority to dispose of old furnace used in the
greenhouse at the Glen Park and now removed,this to be sold as junk. Mr. Hodgin
moved and Mr. Haworth seconded the motion that Mr. Ridgeway be given authority
to sell the furnace as junk and report to the Board. This was approved by the
Board.
Mr. Leslie William,Fire Chief, asked the Board permission to purchase six
(b) sections of 2* inch hose,330 feet, to be used as fire dept. equipment.
Mr. Hodgin moved and Mr. Haworth seconde a motion that Mr. William be granted
the authority to purchase six (6) setions of 22 inch fire hose. This was ap-
11/ proved by the Board.
A petitio for permission to cut present curb for driveway on N.W. E.St,
known as lot 419 & #e0 West side Syndicate,N.E. corner of N.W. E & 3RD Sts.
This petition presented by the C.& D. Trucking Co. Mr. Hodgin moved and Mr.
Haworth seconded a motion that the C.& D. be granted permission to cut the
curb. This was approved by the Board.
After allowing claims in the amount of $.. 9a,70 ,upon proper motion
the Board adjourned.
