HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-19-1947 ma OFFICE OF TT, BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AHD SAFETY CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA FRiDAY, DP;CEMBER 19, 1947 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in , the office of the Board, Friday, December 19 , 1947, at 9 a . m. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. Klodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Upon the recommendation of the City Engineer, Mr. Keisker moved that a stop sign be placed at South llth and C Streets . Lir . Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. / The Clerk of the Board was instructed to prepare an advertisement for air diffusion equipment for aeriation tanks and sewage treatment works for the Sewage Disposal Plant . Ihe date set for the o Dening of the bids was set for Friday, January 2, 194C, at 9 : 30 a . m. Mr. Keisker moved that a traffic light be installed at North 12th and A Streets . Mr . Iiodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. The Clerk of the Board was instructed to notify the superintendent of the Light Plant . A complaint was made to the Board about brush shrubbery obstructing the traffic on South D Street between 15th and 16th Streets . This matter vas referred to the Street Commissioner. Frank Marino, reported that the traffic light at North L and 15th Streets does not function properly. This matter was referred to the Light Plant . The City Engineer was:>,authorized to advise the Richmond Property Corporation that ornamental lights would be installed in the Hill- crest Addition upon petition of the property owners . if they did not desire ornament lights then overhead street lights would be installed: as needed. Mayor• John R. Britten appeared before the Board of Works and informed said Board that he is demoting Chief of Police Ellis H. Duckett to the position of regular patrolman, the same to become effective on the 31st day of December,, 1947, at 12 o ' clock noon. He stated further that at the tide of the appointment of Mr. Duckett as the Chief of Police it was clearly understood that Mr. Duckett would remain a member bf the Police Department and Pension Fund, while serving as such Chief of Police , and that this action was now being taken in order to clarify the record, if any doubt exists , as to this understanding. On motion duly made by Mr. Urban and seconded by Iir . I:eisker, and unanimously carried, the Board placers .
