FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 , 1947
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana., met in regular session in the office of the Board,
Friday, September 26., 1947, at 9 a . n. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S.
W. Hodgin and i,infield Urban being present the following proceedings
were had to wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Andrew Herlits appeared before the Board and requested the
installation of a street light on South 16th between G and H
Streets . This matter was referred to the Traffic Division and
the City Engineer.
Stephen Hornak appeared before the Board requesting L hour
restricted parking in front of his grocery on 13th and North L.
This matter was referred to the Traffic Division.
Er. Earl Gilbert, Lowell Pike Ec Edwin Pike appeared before
the Board along with I\ir. Stanley Burdette, the operator, con-
cerning the fruit stand across from Glen Miller Park. Er. Edwin
Pike and Lowell Pike spoke very highly of Dr. Burdette . Mr.
Pike stated that he lived at the adjoining property and had no
objections to the operation of this fruit stand. Mr. Gilbert
brought out the fact that for many years the premises have been
occupied by some sort of business or concession. This matter
was referred to the Building Inspector and City Attorney.
Upon the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett, Er. Hodgin
moved and Er. Keisker seconded that parking be restricted on
the Southwest side of Washing on Avenue from North 6th to the
switch track. It was so ordered.
The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for a 6
cylinder automobile for the Fire Chief with trade-in allowance.
The date for the opening of the bids was set for Friday, October
17, 1i14 7, at 9:30 a. m.
Mr. heisker moved that the` curb on the South side of South
A be painted yellow for a distance of three cars length east
of South 12t
h Street . 1:_r. riOd;7;ln seconded it and it was so ordered.
Mr. Heath requested permission to cut a tree at 55 South 16th
Street . This matter was referred to the Park._ Superintendent.
Mr. Hodgin moved that Lewis Dentaman be given permission
to extend the 6 inch pipe from the end of the serer on the Nat ' l
Road approximately 50 feet at his own expense and under the su'ser-
vision of the City Engineer. I,ir. Keisker seconded it and it w.s
so ordered.

The Board authorized Police Chief Duckett to attend the FBI
Training School in Washington D. C . for ten days starting
September 29th.
The Street Cormissioner was instructed to designate
the alley entrance with a yellow line south of ;•„filler o s Dairy
Store at best 1st and Main.
After allowing claims in the amount of .p14 ,359.44,
upon proper motion the Board adjourned.
