OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OF RICH-MYIOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 1947.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday,
August 22, 1947, at 9 a.m. Messrs . Earl Keisker, and S . W. Hodgin
being present the following proceedings were had to wit :
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Keisker reported that according to the Acts of 1940, the
City of Richmond is liable for the injuries that Linnie Cook received
in the line of duty.
A petition was received from Andy Van Winkle requesting permission
to cut the curb at 314 North A Street . Permission was granted.
Dr. V . R. Taylor, County Health Officer, appeared before the
Board to make a complaint about the dumping of garbage in the county.
This matter was taken under advisement and was refereed to the City
Engineer and theSuperintendent of the Disposal Plant for recommendation.
Mr. Edwin L. ,Shanks appeared before the Board, requesting permission
to use the second floor room of the South 9th and E Fire Station as
a meeting place for the Marine Corps Veterans Club. Mr . Keisker ,
moved that permission be granted and Mr. Hodgin seconded it . It was
so ordered.
At 9:30, the time set for the receiving and opening of bids for
a 12 ton truck for the Street Department, Mr. Hodgin opened the only
bid received. That being the bid from the Brower Motors Inc . for a
1947 Studebaker in the sum of ;r2314 .25 with trade in allowance of
4<i114.25 . This being the only bid submitted, it was accepted.
At the hour of 9 :30 bids were received for the installation of a
new boiler in the Glen Miller Greenhouse . One bid was received;
that being the bid of John Niewoehner in the sum of 1,440 .40.
That being the only bid submitted, Mr. Keisker .moved that the bid
be accepted. Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered.
After allowing claims in the amount of :;4,971 .59, upon proper
motion the .Board adjourned.
