FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 1947.
The Board of Public Works and Safet '`'o;f the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday,
August 15, 1947, at 9 am. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. IIodgin and
I/
Winfield Urban being present .the following proceedings were had to
wit:
The minutes of the- preceding meeting were read and approved.
Fire Chief Williams reported. that Linnie Cook was injured in
the line of duty. This matter was referred to the City Attorney.
Chief Duckett reported to the Board Concerning the request for
a stop sign at Northwest 2nd and Randolph that it would be impossible
to cover it in the absence of an ordinance and the same is protected
in the Statute of Indiana .
The request of the Rainbow Market to cut curbs at South 13th Street
was granted`
Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Duckett, Tr. Hodgin
moved and Mr. Keisker seconded that the 9lerk of the Board be instructed
to notify the Light Plant to install a street light on Northwest C
Street, halfway between Last Haven Avenue and the End of C Street.
A request was made to the Board for fire hydrants on South 23rd
and L Streets . The petitioner was told to contact Lir. Shoemaker, of
the tlic}zmond Water works .
The complaint of the bad condition of South L Street was re-
ferred to Mr. Burkhardt . '
At the hour of 9:30 a.m. , Chairman of the Board ask that if
there were any remonstances against the vacation of the alley described
in Declaratory Resolution No. 10, 1947 . At that time the superintendent
of the Municipal Light and Power Plant appeared and remonstrated- along
with Earl Beck, and Leo Tracy as a taxpayer and Chairman of the Light
Plant Committee of the Common Council also appeared and remonstrated
explaining fully his reasons for such remonstrances . After due deliber-
ation the board decided to take the (:tatter under advisement. After
further deliberation and there being no one present representing the
petitioners , and remonstrances by the Chief of Police relative to the
traffic hazard that would be necessarily created by trucks having to
back in or back out of the alley by Leo Trac-T9 s grocery, upon motion
by Mr. Keisker, and seconded by Mr. Urban, the Board rescinded the
forgoing resolution. _
A report of a boiler inspection of the City Garage stating that
, a stop valve should beinstalled in the feed line between the check
valve ard :the boiler, was presented and referred to the Street Commissioner
and City Engineer.
A petition was received from Andrew Herlits , representing the
Moose Lodge , requesting permission to cut curb at 117-119 South 8th
Street. Permission was granted.

A petition was received from Alton 111. Hodgin requesting
permission to cut curb on North E Street from alley in rear of
424 North 21st St. , east a distance of 10 feet . Permission
was granted.
After allowing claims in the amount oi; Xf, 1#/4Nir , upon
proper motion the Board adjourned.
