The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the Office of the Board, Thursday, July 3rd, 1947, at 9 a. m. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Ross reported that with the permission of the Watt and Keelor Company they had arranged for the vault cleaners to /rik a trial of dropping their collection in the intercepting sewer manholes on said Watt and Keelor property on North 10th Street . Upon the recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board accepted the resignation of James Kortwright from the Fire Department as of June 30, 1947. A .petition was received from a group of citizens requesting that the Porter Poster Service be instructed either to remove the billboard, on the Southwest corner of South 9th and 0, or move it back farter so it won' t cause a traffic hazard. The Board advised the petitioners that in as much that.:the zoning ordinance permits the erection of signs in a business district, the Board had no authority to order its removal. Mr. Luther Koering appeared before the Board requesting that the dump in Clear Creek Park be sprayed to control the mosquitoeonuisance . He advised that if the. City would do this , that the nearby residents would spray their respective lawns and bushes'. The Street commissioner was instructed to arrange to have the city dump sprayed with oil, DDT, or some other material which would control the mosquito nuisance . A complaint was received from Mr. Carl Shepman advising that the Holland Furnace Company had emptied their soot bag on the Clear Creek dump, blowing the soot in such way as to be a nuisance to the adjoining properties .. The Clerk vas instructed to take this matter up with the Holland Furnace Company requesting that the practice be discontinued. The Street Commissioner was instructed to put up a sign in Clear Creek dump to prevent the dumping of garbage . He was also instructed to install street signs in Gardner-Hillcrest Addition on Cartwright Drive and Debolt lane .This being the date set for the hearing on remonstrances in connection with the various sanitary sewer resolutions , and there being no remon- strators , Mr. Keisker moved that Declaratory Resolution No 6-1947 ' for the construction of Sanitary sewers in the Beallview. District, be confirmed. Mr. Ilodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. - MrC2 Keisker moved that the Declaratory Resolution No. 7-1947, for the construction of a sanitary sewer in the Marymount additt-.on, be confirmed. Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. Mr. Keisker moved that the Declaratory Resolution no. 8-1947, pro- ' vidinr. for the installation of a sanitary sewer in South L Street from the first alley east on South 9th to South 13th, be confirmed. t' : Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. 179 The Clerk vas instructed to prepare and publish request for bids on the forgoing, the date set for receiving and opening of same Jyy 25, 1947, at 9: 30 a. rn. 44qus1 "g,-d The Clerk wn;s instructed to prepare the necessary advertisement for the steel buil '` ,r to be used for storage purposes at the City Garage , setting 1947' at 9: 30 a. n. for receiving and opening of same .
