HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-20-1947 1.74 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, JUKE 20, 1947 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the board, Friday, June 20, 1947, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. Keisker moved that upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police that the curb area in front of the Greyhound Bus Station on South 8th be declared a restricted zone for five (5) minute parking only and that the clerk of the Board so notify the cab companies by letter of the Board' s action. Mr . Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. Mr. George Cotrell, Superintendent of the Richmond Works of the International Harvester Company, appeared before the Board to discuss the possibility of closing North 13th from E to the Penn R. R. After a discussion between the Board and Mr . Cotrell, this matter along with the matter of a possible underpass on 12th Street and the railroad, were referred to the City Engineer for. investigation and . recommendation. Councilman Marino at the meeting of the Council of June 16 , 1947, complained about the parking on West 13th between Main and Peacock Road. He suggested that the City adopt angle parking in order to get more cars in that area. This matter was referred to the Traffic Division. Councilman Kinder stated that Southwest 15th from Main to the National Road was in bad condition. This was referred to the Street Department . Councilman Russell complained about the condition of the street from L to 0 on South 14th and South 13th. This request was referred ,to the City Engineer for the preparation of Declaratory Resolution No. 9 . A request was received from Miller Bros . to renew the curb and side- walk in front of their place on Ft. Warne Avenue . They were granted Permission, provided that the work begone at their expense and under the supervision of the City Engineer. Mr. Hodgin reported that he had taken up with the Railroad the matter of various crossings and the fence between 17th and 20th Streets on the south side of the Penn. R.
