HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-17-1947 1 •1 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAYETY CITY OF RICHMOINTD, INDIANA FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 1947 The board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Pi/iday; •- June 13, 1947, at 9 A . M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had toI/ wit: The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. The board l eceived a petition from a group of residents and also several residents appeared before the .Hoard to remonstrate against the restricted parking on South 20th from Main to A. Mr. Keisker moved that the action on the closing of the Last side of South 20th Street be rescinded The Street Commissioner was instructed to take down the signs . The residents also complained about the accessive speed of automobile on South 20th and this matter was referred to the Chief of Police . Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. Mr. .L. C . Hilling accompanied by a group of truck operators appeared before the Board and Protested the enforcing the ordinance against trucks parking more than 15 minutes on the City Streets. Mr. Hodgin made a suggestion that part of the market lot be set aside for truck parking only, Mr. Forest Monger appeared before the Board and complained about the accessive speed on North D Street.. He also recommended that parking be restricted to the South side only of North D Street from Fort Wayne Avenue to the Loran Bridge . He also recommended that traffic be restricted to one side of the street on North 6th between North D and the Penn. Railroad. These matters were referred to the Traffic Division. Mr. Keiskermoved that the School City of Richmond and the City of Richmond renew and continue the, contract now existing for the occupancy and use of Civic Hall for one year from August 1, 1947, to July 31, 1948 , in accordance to the terms in the original contract which is dated April 3, 1939. Mr . Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. Upon the recommendation of the chief of Police, Mr. Keisker moved that parking be restricted to two hours on the east side of North 3rd Street from Main to north end o f Gilcrest Garage , and that both: sides of North 3rd Street, along "Factory-curb" be marked by Street Dept . for longitudinal parking. Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. The Declaratory Resolution No. 6 providing forthe construction of sanitary sewer of the Beallview district, was adopted, and the date of hearing on benefits to the abutting property was set for Thursday July 3, 1947, at 9:30 A. M. The Declaratory Resolution No. 7 providing for the construction of sanitary sewer of South M Street and the Marymount addition, was adopted, and the date of hearing. on benefits to the abutting property was set for Thursday, July 3, at 9:30 A . M. 173 The Declaratory Resolution No. 8 providing for the construction of sanitary sewer in South L Street from 9th to 13th, was adopted, and the date of hearing on benefits to the abutting property was set for Thursday, July 3, at 9:30 A. P . After allowing claims in the amount of 23,077 .07 , upon proper motion the Board adjourned. President Attest; cretary
