BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS &ND SAFETY
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
JUNE 6, 1947..
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana , met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday,
June 6, 1947, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. Hodgin, and
Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to
wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Keisker moved that the Richmond Water Works be advised
to the effect that the Board ordered the installation of a six inch
water main in South L Street from 13th to 16th, subject to the
regulations of the Richmond Water Works Corporation .relative to
Revenue Producing Installations , and that a Fire hydrant be placed
as designated by the Fire Chief.. Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was
so ordered.
Upon the recommendation of the Chief of the Fire Department,
Mr. Keisker moved that Charles Eugene Carroll be appointed probationary
fireman commencing June 1st, 1947, with the salary of temporary
fireman, subject to the passing of physical examination. Mr. Hodgin
seconded it and it was so ordered.
Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police, Mr. Hodgin
moved that Roy Craig be appointed probationary patrolman commencing
June 16th, 1947, with the salary of probationary patrolman. Mr.
Keisker seconded it & it was so ordered.
Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police, Mr. Hodgin
moved that John Sperling be advanced to regul >operator from
temporary operator commencing June 1st. P . Hodgin seconded it
and it was so ordered. vio
Mr. Keisker movdd that we renew our present insurance policies
in the manner set forth in the 'budget for 1947. ;:Mr. Hodgin seconded
it and it was so ordered.
The resolution, plans , and specifidations for the proposed
Beallview sewer were presented to the Board and were referred to
the CiLy Attorney for the proper procedure .
T✓ Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police, Mr. Keisker
moved that parking be prohibited on the East Side of South 20th from I/
Main to A and that signs be so erected. Mr. Urban seconded it and
it was so ordered.

The Plans' specifications for an improvement resolution for
the sewer in South M Street to serve the Marymount Addition was

submitted and was referred to the City Attorney.
The plans , spec1fications , and resolution forthe proposed
sewer in South L Street from South 9th to South 13th Street was
referred to the City Attorney.

The contract between Porter Poster Service and the City
of Richmond for the maintaing of a billboard on the south side of
Richmond Avenue and at the Doran Bridge was renewed for a term of
three years from August 1st, 1947, to August 1st, 1950.
The Board ordered the extension of a six inch water line
along Southwest 15th from Southwest D to Southwest F and the installation
of two fire hydrants to be placed at such point disignated by the
fire chief. The clerk of the board was instructed to so notify the
Richmond dater livorks .
After allowing claims intthe amount of y 3,211 .13, upon
proper motion the board adjourned.
