OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS. AND SAFETY
CITY OF RICI OND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, MAY 16, 1947
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana , met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday,
May 16, 1947, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin, and
Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr. A. T. Klinge biel, appeared before the Board for the decision
on his previous request to purchase city property adjoining his own
on north west First. The Board was agreed that they did not favor
selling any of the park property such as he requested and consequently
his request was refused.
Upon the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett, Mr. Keisker
moved that the resignation of Moses A. Shores be accepted as of June
1, 1947. Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered..
A request was presented to the board in behalf of Wayne McCord
by Robert Juerling, his contractor, to excavate under the alley in
the rear of his building at North.8th and Sailor. His request was
rejected by the Board since similar requests have been turned down
by the State Fire Marshall.
Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Williams , Mr. Keisker moved
that Beckwith Stephenson be promoted from regular fireman to the rank
of lieutenant as of Ivlay 16 . Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so
ordered.
Mrs. Carrie Owens requested permission to cut down a tree at
215 North 10th Street. This matter was referred to the Park
Superintendent.
Mr. Hodgin recommended that a street light be installed at
the intersection of South First -and A Streets . It was so ordered
and the clerk was instructed to notify the light plant.
Mr. Hodgin said that the plans for the proposed sewers at
Beallview have been completed and submitted to the State Board of
Health for their approval. ;.
A petition was filed with the Board signed by twelve petitioners I/
seeking installation of sewer for property along the north half of
Parry Street from 13th to 10th. This matter was referred to the
City Engineer. .

After allowing claims in the amount of amx. gS , upon proper
motion the Board adjourned.
