HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-25-1947 161 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, APRIL 25, 1947 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, I/ Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday, April 25, 1947, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit: The Clerk was instructed to advertise for one _2 ton pick-up truck for the Street Department with trade-in. The date for the opening of the bids was set for Friday, May 9, 1947, at 9:30 A. M. It was brought to the attention of the Board that the Council meeting of April 21st, Councilman Marino reported the bad conditions of the drives and walks across the Pennsylvania R. R. at the various crossings . This matter was referred to the City Engineer. It was also reported that Charles Brown, 50 South llth Street, who appeared before the Council reported yards being ruined by dogs in the City. This matter was referred to the Chief of Police . Mr. Sillman. reported water standing in the street at intersection of Southwest 5th & D Streets . He also requested a light be installed at Southwest 5th & E Streets . The matter of the water standing was referred to the City Engineer and the Street superintendent. The matter of the installation of the light was referred to the City Engineer and the Chia of Police . The Board of Works ordered the installation of street light at the intersection of Southwest F and Abington Pike , and another light midway between the Abington Pike and Southwest 1st on Southwest F Street. The Clerk was instructed to inform the light plant. The Chief of Police recommended that the request of Henry Eavy Jr. for restricted parking on Southeast side of Fort Wayne Avenue between D and 8th Street be granted, and that parking be restricted to one hour on said location. It was so ordered and the Clerk was instructed to send a copy of this motion to the State Highway Commission. 11 A citizens complaint being presented to the Board relative to bicycle being left in front of the Motion icture theaters.and the City Attorney was instructed to conf with Mr. Hudson relative to preventing boys from parking their bicycles in front of the theaters and the Stree.t Commissioner was instructed by the Board to inspect and repair the various bicycle racks throughout the City. This being the day for the receiving of bids for )Street Materials at 9:30 A . M. , the president of the Board opened the bids , and no bids were received other than that of W. L. Magaw accompanied by questionaire Form 96A from the State Board of Accounts and a Properly certified check and a bid of the American Aggregates Company for certain materials accompanied by a certified check. There being no other bids , these were accepted by the Board and the Clerk was instructed to notify the successful bidders . There being noone present to remonstrate against Declaratory Resolution No. 4, 1947, concerning the closing of the first alley north of North A street between North 7th & 8th. The resolution confirmed; St. Mary' s Church being the owner of the abbuttt.ng property on each side of aforesaid alley, and they having aggreedto pay any and all expense in connection with the closing of the alley, no role for benefits and damages was prepared. After allowing claims in the amount of Sao. 117 , upon proper motion the ii.oard adjourned. The bids above referred to as, submitted are set forth on a seperate sheet and marked hxhibit A.
