A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING STAFF 'TO' WORK WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY ON THE COUNTYWIDE RAPID
SHELTER AND BRANDING INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
(Metro) has established the Metro Rapid System; and
WHEREAS, the Metro Rapid System, a bus transit service, . attributes include
frequent service, level boarding and dismount, passenger _information, fewer stops,
traffic signal priority and branded buses and stations; and
WHEREAS, Metro plans to undertake a Countywide Metro Rapid Shelter and
Branding Initiative to improve bus stops and shelters in the Metro Rapid System; and
WHEREAS, Metro has identified 7 out of 9 bus stops in Lynwood subject to the
improvement program
WHEREAS, Enhancement of these bus stop locations will improve the aesthetics
of the bus stop locations; and
WHEREAS, Metro is soliciting comments from the City on the design elements
on these bus stop improvements and is planning on submitting an agreement for the
City's consideration and approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council authorize staff to work with Metro on the
enhanced Metro Rapid System's stations /shelters.
Section 2. That the City Council authorize staff to submit comments on the
stations and shelters.
Section 3. That the City Council direct staff to bring back an agreement for
City Council's consideration and approval which will define among other items the
maintenance of the enhance bus shelters.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of April, 2014.
