HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-11-1947 1 J OFFICE., OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAIi'LTY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, APRIL 11, 1947 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the, office of the Board, Friday,, April 11, 1947, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mike Durago appeared before the Board seeking permission of use of the market house west of the middle door on the, North side of the building_. This matter was referred to the CityAttorney and the Iiarket Master. A petition was received from the Richmond Terminal Manager' of; the Penn. Greyhound Lines in regard to cutting the curb on South 8th between the bus terminal & the Light Plant for additional driveway south of the bus station. The same being approved. The Clerk was instructed to prepare an advertisement for bids for street materials to be used for the ensuing year. The date set for the opening of the bids was set for Friday, April 25, at 9:30 A. M. ' It was brought to the attention of the Board that the Council meeting of April 7, Councilman Kinder reported that citizens living in the neighborhood of Northwest''.11th & Peacock Road were complaining about the oder from the dump fire in that location especially on the Berry addition. Also complaint on rats around the dump. Councilman Tracy recommended the barricade be made larger at the West end of the South G Street Bridge . This matter was referred to the Street Commissioner. ' Councilman Brehm, requested a report from the Board of Public , Works be had in regard to the matter of the Harry Gilbert property across from Glen Miller: being in the Residential District or or Business District. Mr. Brehm also recommended that the Board of Public Works and the School Board act as a committee in regard to having a larger auditiorium, or enlarging the present auditorium. A group of citizens that live near South 5th between P & Q appeared before Council and complained that certain citizens in that area put their sewage in containers and then dumping same in the yards of people who have septic tanks . 'This matter was referred to the Board of Health. A petition was received requesting to cut curb for driveway at Nos . 19 & 21 South 10th Street. The same being approved by the Board.' ' 4 A petition was also received requesting to cut curbs at 800 159 Northwest C and 435 South 18th. The same being approved by the Board. The same committee requested that the board continue its investigation of the installation of Sanitary Sewers in the Beallview Addition and South. Mr® Keisker moved & Mr. Hodgin seconded that the Clerk of the hoard be instructedoto notify the Light Plant to install lights at South 13th & ; South 13th & 0; South 16th & G, and at Northwest 13th at the Ball Park. It was so ordered. Mr. Keisker moved that the lieclaratory Resolution No. 5, 1947, providing for ,the vacation of the first alley north of South A Street, running eastwardly and westwardly between Lots 13 and 20 of John Smith' s Original: Plat .be adopted, setting Friday, May 2, 1947, at 9:30 A. M. for hearing of same . After allowing claims in the amount of 29,062.39, upon proper motion the board adjourned. President Attest: 'ecre ary i
