OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 1947
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
II
Richmond, Indiana , met in regular session in the office of the
Board, Friday, March 7, 1947 , at 9 A . M. Messrs . Earl Keisker,
S . W. Hodgin and Winfield Ubban being present the following
proceedings were had to wit: .
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and ammended.
Mr. Keisker reported that he had notified the property*
owners at 129 Northwest I Street where the shrubbery hangs
down over the sidewalk. .

Mr. Burkhardt reported a sunken place in the sidewalk on
. the south side of the fire department on Northwest 5th Street .
This matter was referred to the City Attorney.
Mr . Burkhardt recommended that Mr. ,Henry Holzapfel should
keep 1-Tie' Doran Bridge cleaned. off. This was referred to the
City Attorney.
Councilman Homant s complaint concerning the lack of fence
along the south side of the Pennsylvania Railroad between
19th & 20thrStreets was referred to the City Engineer to be
taken up with the Penn R.R.
Mr. Keisker moved and Mr . Iiodgin seconded that permission
be granted to Wayne McCord to excavate under the sidewalk and
• extend his basement in accordance. with plans submitted tted by the
. architect working on north 8th ;gust north of Sailor Street .
A petition was received for the paving of the alley extending
from Northwest 17th Street to East Haven Avenue by the first
alley north of west Main St . This referred to the City
Engineer for preparation of plans and to confer with the petitioners
with respect to having work done by private contract .
A petition was received and signed by many taxpayers living
on third, 4th, 5th 5th below I St . for bus service . This matter
was referred to the Indiana Railroad Company. I/
Upon the recommendation of the Chief of the Fire Department
that firemen adopt uniforms of washable material in addition
to that already adopted subject to the approval of the Fire Depart-
ment to- be purchased at their own expense . Mr. Hodgin seconded
it and it was so ordered.
A letter from Er. E. E . Orr set forth a plan of his wife
relative to preventin the congestion of traffic on the Dornn
bride;e wile the C 0 trains block it at one end. This matter
was referred to the CityI�ngineer and the `f'raffi_c Department .

After allowing claims in the amount of 1;9,084 .67, upon
proper motion the Board adjourned.
