HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-28-1947 151 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 1947. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday, February 20, 1947, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. IIodgin, and Winfield Urban being present the following; proceedings were had to wit : The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Street Commissioner Burkhardt reported that the shrubbery on 129 Northwest I Street does hang over the sidewalk about 10 inches . _ The matter was referred to the City Attorney. The sidewalk on Northwest 1st street between Pearl and the alley South was reported by Mr. Burkhardt as being in need of repairs . The Clerk was instructed to notify the owner Mr. Henry Sickman. The sidewalk at 16th and Main in front of Mac ' s drugstore was also reported as being bad. Mr. Burkhardt was instructed to go ahead and fix it . Fire Chief Williams reported that No. 1 Fire truck is back in service . Upon the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett, Mr . Keisker moved that Patrolmen Donald Thomas and John Murphy be promoted to the rank of detectives and be given the salary of 2.15.50 a month each. Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it was so ordered. Upon the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett , Mr. Keisker moved that Earl L. Witherby, and Harold W. Ryan be appointed probationary patrolmen, as of March 1st, 1947, and that Paul B. Cornelison be appointed probationary patrolman as of Itlarch 16, 1947 . ' Mr. Hodgin seconded it and it vas so ordered. City Attorney Keisker reported that he had several complaints of dogs barking during the night. This matter was referred to the Police Department. Wayne MdCord' s request for permission to extend his basement under the sidewalk on 8th Street, just off Sailor' Street was referred to the City Engineer, Building Inspector, and Fire Chief.
