FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 1947
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday,
January 31, 1947, at 9 .A. M. Messrs . S . W. Hodgin and Winfield
Urban being present the following proceedings were had to wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Ross reported that the water still had gone completely bad
and reported that a new still and storage tank would cost V232 .50 .
He was instructed by the Board to make the purchase as soon as
possible .
Councilman Marino stated that citizens living in the neighbor-
hood of Northwest 9th & A street request a light be installed was
referred to the City Engineer who reported he had taken the same
up with the light company and been informed that it was part of the
ornamental lights ordered several years ago and would be installed
as soon as they could get the material .
The request of the Commons Luber Company to erect a sign on
City property northeast of intersection of Richmond Avenue and
Sheridan Street after due consideration was refused by the Board.
Mr. Hodgin informed the Board that residents and the postmaster
requested that South L Street be repaired. This matter was taken
up with the Street Commissioner.
The request for a stop light at northwest 5th & Peacock Road
was referred to the City Engineer and Chief of Police who reported
that the matter had been taken up with the iIighi°fay Department on
two different occasions . g, 5.
Mr. Harlan Brooks requested permission to tap into sewer at
Northwest A and the ;lest Corporate limits . This permission was granted
him on payment of sewer tapping fee of h;25 . Mr. C . C . Brooks also
requested tapping in at the same place and also was given permission
upon the payment of sewer tapping fee of ;;;;25 .
At 9:30, the time set as per advertisement to receive bids for
one tractor complete for Street Department, and one ambulance
complete and one medium weight coach automobile, complete for use by
the Police Department , the following bids were received:

of two 6 .00 x 16 (4 Ply) rib tread front pneumatic tires
and two 12 .00 x 24 (6 ply) road builder tread rear Pneu-

These bids were referred to the City Enginneer and Street . .
Commissioner for recommendation. There being no bids received
. in answer to the advertisement for one medium weight coach and
ambulance complete for the Police Department, the Chief of
Police was instructed to secure any proposals he might in the
open market. After due consideration Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Burkhardt
reported on the bids received and recommended that the bid received
from Reid-Holcomb Company be accepted for:

They based their recommendation upon the fact that it was power
control instead of Band control .
After allowing claims in an amount of 2,709 .19, upon _roper
motion the Board adjourned.
