FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1946
The Board of Public "orks and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the "oard Friday,
December 20, 1946, at 9 A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin,
and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were
had to wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
A letter was submitted from the Texas Company to the Board
amending their original proposition relative to furnishing
gasoline to the City during year 1947 changing the contract period
r�4C.to"January1, 1947, to December 31, 1947. Mr. Keisker then moved
that the contract be; awarded to the company. Mr. Urban seconded
the motion and it was so' ordered. .
A request was recived from the Commons Lumber Company for
permission to erect a sign on the northeast corner of Sheridan Street
and Richmond Avenue intersection which is city property. It was
ordered that this be referred to the city attorney and city engi-
neer for consideration.
Mr. Urban moved upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police
Orville Conyers be appointed regular patrolman as of December 16,
1946, at the usual salary. He having finished the six months
probationery period and that notice be given the controller' s
office . Mr. Keisker seconded it and it was so ordered.
Mr. Urban moved that the petition of the Indiana Railroad
be referred to the City Engineer and Chief of Police . This
petition pertains to the extending of the loading area at all
corners of 8th and Main. Mr. Keisker seconded it and it was
so ordered.
It was brought to the attention of the Board that at the
Council meeting of December 16 Councilman Russell reported that
the alley between South loth and llth, South of L Street had not
been cleaned, since last October, 1946. This matter was referred
to the Street .Commissioner who promptly notified the Board that
this alley was cleaned up not later than 10 days ago.
11/ Councilman Marino complained that the sewer in the alley
between North H .and North' J near llth street was stopped up. This
matter was referred to the Street Commissioner',-
Councilman Marino also objected to the Tibbs Trucking Company
parking their trucks in front of the residence at 229 North 3rd
Street continually so the people residin:-; at that location do not
have access to the street . This matter was referred to the Chief
of Police who promptly reported that this practice had been stopped.

Mr. Keisker moved that arrangements be made for repairing •
the dwelling house of the park policeman which burned on the morning
of December 19 and that matter be placed in the hands of
the Building Inspector and the City Engineer.

After allowing claims in the amount of 2,436.23, upon
motion the Board Adjourned.
