OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1946
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday,
October 11, 1946 at 9:00 A. M. Messrs Winfield Urban, Earl Keisker
and S . W. Hodgin being present, the following proceedings were had
• to wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Keisker moved upon the recommendation of City Lngineer
Hodgin that Lester Bettenbroke and Michael Rubino be given permission
to extend a six inch sewer line on their properties on South I Street
between South 5th Street and Liberty Avenue into the sewer at the
intersection of South I Street and Liberty Avenue . Mr. Urban seconded
the motion and it was so ordered
Mr. Ross , Superintendent of the Sewage Disposal Plant, reported
that the material ordered from the Link Belt Co. had been delivered
and it was satisfactory. In view of this fact the clerk of- the Board
was ordered to return their check.
Mr. Keisker moved that Resolution y2, 1946 providing for the
vacation of the alley and part of the street at South P Street
between South 9th Street and the Right of Way of the C . & 0 Railway
be confirmed. Mr. Urban seconded the motion and it was so ordered.

Mr. Urban moved that the matter referred to the Board by the
City Council concerning the blowing of horns on Saturday nights on
South 23rd Street after the dances at the Pavilion be referred to
the Chief of Police .
Mr. Urban moved that the matter of the burning of material on
the dump in the Clear Creek Park and the smoke coming from the Johns-
Manville Facorty be referred to the Chief of the Fire Department..
The complaint regarding the un-sanitary conditions at the
home for old people located at ath & North C Streets was referred to
the Sanitary Inspector.
Again it was brought before the Board that requests have been
received by the Council from citizens living in the neighborhood of
South 14th from L to 0 Street for a water main.. This matter has
already been provided for and are awaiting installation.
Eva Keller of 809 North 17th Street has complained regarding
the unsanitary condition of a building across the street from her
residence . This matter was referred to the Sanitary Inspector.
' Mr. Keisker reported that he was approached by Councilman Ewbank
asking that an overhead street light be placed on Green Street and
one on Butler Street . This matter was taken under advisement.

Mr. Keisker :roved and Er. Urban seconded that Declaratory
Resolution #3, 1946 providing for the vacation of the alley
between North West E Street and the Pennsylvania Railroad, Indianapolis
Division, from' North West 2nd Street to North West 3rd Street be
adopted. It was so ordered. Uctober 25, 1946 was set as the date
for the hearing of remonstrances .
After allowing claims in the am >unt of l87267• Et, upon
proper motion the Board adjourned.
