OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 1946
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana ,
met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, April 5,
1966 at 9 A.M. Present were Messrs . S . W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker and
Winfield Urban: the following proceedings were had to wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Mr.. Keisker moved and Mr. Urban seconded that the Indiana Rail-
road Division of Wesson & Co. be granted permission to alter their
route pursuant to the routing shown on Map Exhibit B dated April 5,
1946, submitted by James Alyea, and that a copy thereof be left with
the City Engineer and dated today. It is understood this is on 'a
trial basis . It was so ordered.
Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Duckett, Mr. Urban
moved and Mr. Keisker seconded that parking restrictions be placed on
the east end of the Doran bridge to the railroad tracks .
It was brought to the attention of the Board that tat the Council
meeting of April lst, Councilman Marino complained about the condition
of tjae alley between south 5th and 6th and P and. Q; also the broken
curb'''in front of a grocery near Ridge and School Streets; and also a
bad place in the street as a result of repair work by the Gas Company
on Korth I between 9th and 10th Streets .
Councilman Russell' s_ complaint with reference to bad condition of
South 10th St . from G to Hibberd School, the bad condition of the ;alley
between South 6th and 7th from C to E, and the danger of fire in the
South 5th St. dump was referred to the Board, who in turn, referred same
to the Street Commissioner.
A petition was presented to the Board asking for protection for
children crossing North 10th St . going to Nicholson School. This was
submitted to the traffic division.
Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Duckett, Mr. Keisker
moved and Mr. Urban seconded that the Clerk of the Board be instructed
to notify the Municipal Electric Light and Power Co. to install lights
at the intersection of North C and 15th Sts . . and on South F St. be-
tween 8th and 9th.
A bid pursuant to advertisement in the Richmond Palladium-Item
for street materials for the year 1946 was received at 9:30 A.M. Only
one bid was received,, that being from W. L. Magaw . No other bids be-
ing received, Mr. Keisker moved and -Mr. Urban seconded that the bid of
W. L. Magaw be. accepted. It was so ordered.
No bids being received pursuant to advertisement in the Richmond
Palladium-Item for the purchase of stone and gravel, the Street Commis-
sioner was authorized to buy same on the open market .

No bids having been received for an automobile for the Police
Department pursuant to advertisement in the Richmond Palladium-
Item, Chief of Police Duckett was instructed to inquire as to the
price of a car and trade-in value, and report back to the Board.
After allowing claims in the amount of $,T/, qo7. Y7 , upon
proper motion, the Board adjourned.
