HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-22-1946 83 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND INDIANA. FRIDAY March 22nd, 1946 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the office of the Board on Friday, March 22nd, 1946. Present were Messrs. S.W.Hodgin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker. The following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Mr. A.E. Sanders appeared before the Board complaing of the Meyers Drug. Co. at 9th and Main. He stated they keep the iron doors located in the sidewalk open which endangers pedestrians and that they -also place their garbage, empty ens and bottles on the sidewalk. The Board ordered the Clerk of the Board to notify the drug company to cease this practise. Lawrence Howe of 1018 S. 7th w. s appointed a temporary special policeman starting April 1st, 1946 at the salary of $185. 00 per month. Upon recommendation of Clef of Police Duckett Mr. Urban so moved, Mr. Keisker seconded the motion and it was so ordered. Chief of Police Duckett reported that Louis Damiels was back from the armed service and would resume his position as Garage Mechanics on April 1st, 1946. Several matters were reported to the Board of Works as having been raise( by the Common Council Monday night, March lath. They were: The management of the Lauramore Home at the intersection of Richmond Ave. and N.W.6%th requested reflectors to be placed at the end of Richmond Ave. to prevent automobiles running into the property. This was referred to the traffic division. A request was received for the installation of a light at S. 12th and L. Streets. This was referred to the traffic digiaion. The condition of the curb in front of Hibberd school was stated to be bad. The Clerk of the Board was instructed to call this to the attention of Mr. Swihart. Complaint was made as to the Bell-& Wallace Co. burning their trash in the open and alowing the same to blow around the neighborhood. The Clerk was instructed to notify Bell do Wallace of this complaint. Fire Chief Williams was instructed to contact Mr. Schumaker Supt. of the Water Works with reference to the, installation of a water main on S. 14th between M and 00 After allowing claims in the amount of $ G /ya. 6 , , upon proper motion the sr d adjourned.
