OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY JANUARY lith, 1946
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond
Indiana met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday,
January lath, 1946 at 9 A.I . Present were Messrs. Winfield Urban
and Earl Keisker, the following proceedings were had to wit:
Robert Lawler who conducts a store at No. 918 East Main requested to
place a steel door leading into his basement in the alley in the rear

of his store extending 40' into the alley. Mr. Keisker moved that
permission be given if Mr. Lawler would accept full liability and
responsibility for the same. Mr. Urban seconded the motion and it
was so ordered.
Chief Williams reported it was necessary to have a new boiler at
Hose House No. 5. The Board authorized the purchase of the same at
a price of $4+99.50 part of which will be paid by insurance.
Fire Chief Williams recommended that a fire hydrant be placed at the
intersection of Peacock Road and N.W. 13th St. Upon proper motion wm
and second it was so ordered and the Clerk was instructed to notify
the Water company.
Upon recommendation of the City Engineer it vas moved by Mr. Keisker
and seconded by Mr. Urban . and so ordered that Ernest Federico be given
permission to extend a salitary sewer into North 28th St and connect
with the City sewer.
Complaint was made by Mr. Emalie regarding the inadequate lighting at the
P .M.R. crossing at North 12th Street. This matter was referred to
the City Engineer and the City Attorney.
After allowing claims in the zum of $3 , 656.60 upon proper
motion and second the Board adjourned.

The Board authorized Fire Chief Harry Williams to contact Garfield
Dixon and the insurance company with reference to demolition of the
tower at No. 4 Hose House.
