HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-04-1946 IDZ OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SA±ETY, CITY OF RICH BOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, JANUARY 4th, 1946. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, January 4, 1946 at 9:00 A.M. Messrs . S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker, and Winfield Urban being present, the following proceedings were had to wit: - I/ The minutes of the preceding meetings were read and approved. Fire Chief Williams presented to the Board a letter of resignation from Holly R. Clevenger, which reads as follows: "To His Honor the Mayor Board of Works & Safety Jan. 1st, 1946 . Dear Sirs : I herewith submit to you my resignation as City Fireman to be- come effective on the above date . In so doing I want to thank all officials , and the fire department for -courteous treatment that I have received during my time as fireman. Yours respectfully, Holly R. Clevenger ( signed)" Upon recommendation of Chief Williams, it was, moved by Mr. Keisker, seconded by Mr. Urban, and so ordered that this resignation be accepted. Mr. Keisker moved, Mr. Urban seconded, and it was so ordered that, upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Williams , Russell M. Stephenson, having finished his probationary period, be appointed a regular member of the Fire Department on the salary and rating of a Captain as of January 1 , 1946 . Upon advice of the Fire Chief, Fred Klotz and Harlan Brown have been returned from the Armed Services and will resume their positions in the Fire Department. Due to the resignation of Roy Dye, recommendation was made by Chief Williams that Frank Walls be promoted from a Lieutenant to Captain _ as of January 1, 1946. It was moved by Mr. Keisker, seconded by Mr. Urban, and so ordered that this be done . Chief Williams also recommended that Everett Biddle, who is return- ing to work as of January 16th, 1946, be made a Lieutenant at the No. 5 Engine Company. Upon proper motion by Mr. Urban and second by Mr. Keisker, it was so ordered. Chief of Police Duckett recommended the purchase of five radio transmitters as per specifications submitted by him. Upon proper motion and second, the Chief of Police was instructed to confer with the Clerk of the Board and prepare advertisement as per specifica- tions submitted, bids to be received on January 25th at 9:30 A.M.
