HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-16-1945 50 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16th, 1945. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, November 16, 1945 at 9:00 A.M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S . W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present, the following proceedings were had to wit:- The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. Paul Krick appeared before the Board seeking either to purchase or to lease a portion of city-owned lots facing upon the east continuation of Randolph Street which opens onto Richmond Avenue . This matter was referred to City Engineer Hodgin for con- ' ference with the Mayor. Mr. Raymond Wilson, 1010 Sheridan Street, appeared before the Board and presented a petition to vacate an alley running from Sheridan Street west to an alley north and south. This matter was referred to the City Engineer and the Chief of the Fire Department for further report. Fire Chief Williams presented to the Board a letter of resigna- tion from Roy W. Dye, which reads as follows: - "To the Board of Public Works and Safety Nov. 10 1945. Richmond, Indiana Dear Sirs : Having served on the Fire Department for twenty-five years , and due to my physical condition, I hereby submit to you my resignation to become effective as of December 1, 1945. Attached you will find the doctor ' s report in reference to my health. Yours respectfully, Roy W. Dye ( signed) " Mr. Hodgin moved and Mr. Urban;,; seconded the motion that the resignation be accepted as of December 1st and it is so ordered. Chief of Police Duckett reported that he had made a prelimin- ary investigation relative to the installation of a traffic light at Sheridan and N. W. "J" Streets , and he asked time to continue his investigation and to examine the state of the budget providing for the installation of traffic lihts . Mr. Hodgin moved that permission be granted to the W. L. Magaw Company to install a 10" storm water drain at his warehouse on South L Street to the city sewer about 200 feet west . Mr . Urban seconded the motion and it is so ordered. 51 Chief of Police Duckett reported to the Board of Works that he had been in conference with Street Superintendent Burkhardt and that they were working out a plan to control the pedestrian traffic at the street intersections on Main Street. 11/ After allowing claims in the amount of Ki�. 37. upon proper motion, the Board adjourned. /g.t.-46 Presi nt Attest : S cre tart'
