AND SAI0ETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, 1945.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday,
November 9, 1945 at 9:00 A.M. Messrs. Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin,
and Winfield Urban being present, the following proceedings were
had to wit:-
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Upon recommendation of Fire Chief Williams, it was moved by
Mr. Hodgin, seconded by Mr. Urban, and so ordered, that a fire
hydrant be installed at the C & 0 Railroad overhead bridge on
South Fifth Street.
Chief of Police Duckett reported to the Board that he was ar-
ranging for the placing of school signs around the Nicholson School.
Mr. Hodgin moved and it was seconded by Mr. Urban and so ordered
that the Street Department, upon recommendation of Chief of Police
Duckett, be instructed to establish, by signs and by painting the
curb yellow, a fifteen-minute parking zone on North A Street on the
north side of the str:;et from Ninth Street to a point on North A
Street directly opposite the end of the alley on the south side.
The Board instructed the Clerk to advertise for bids on an
automobile for the Police Department, specifications to be the same
as in the advertisement of June 28, 1945, with bids to be received
on November 23rd at 9:30 A.M.
It was moved by Mr. Urban and seconded by Mr. Hodgin, and so
ordered, that the Superintendent of the Sewage Disposal Plant be
authorized to order one Gravely Power Mower for delivery in 1946 at
a price less than $500. •
A motion was made by Mr. Urban that the Clerk be instructed to
place advertisement for a Grit Collector for the Disposal Plant, as
per specifications furnished by the Superintendent, delivery of same
to be after January 1, 1946 and payment for same to be made from the
1946 budget. Bids to be opened December 7th, 1945. It was seconded
by Mr. Hodgin and so ordered. -
At the last meeting of Council, Councilman Marino presented a
petition with 82 signatures requesting a traffic light at Sheridan
and N. W. "J" Streets . This was referred to the Traffic Division.
Also, at the last Council Meeting, Councilman Marino requested
the installation of a street light at the intersection of South
Sixteenth and G Streets. This is one of the lights that is already
in the program.

A request was presented to Council by Donald Weddle
for a street light at South Fifth and M, and this had al-
ready been placed in the proposed installation list.
It was reported to the Board at the last Council Meet-
ing that Willard Miller seriously protested the attitude of
pedestrians in ignoring stop lights . This matter was refer-
red to the Traffic Division for correction.
Mr. Urban moved and it was seconded by Mr. Hodgin and
so ordered that the Light Plant be instructed to place a
200-watt lamp light at the intersection of Vine Street and
the alley running north and south, west of Sheridan Street.
After allowing claims in the amount of20,632.13,
upon proper motion the Board adjourned.
