The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, October 26th, .1945 at 9:00 A.M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin, and Winfield Urban being present, the following proceedings were had to wit: • - The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Fire Chief Williams reported that 400 feet of hose had been purchased I/ for the Fire Department. A- representative . of. Juerling & Sons , contractors , appeared before the Board and. requested permission to block off the sidewalk at 715 East Main Street and to erect a covered pedestrian passageway in the street along the curbing while construction of a new building is being completed. It was moved by Mr. Hodgin and seconded by Mr. Urban that. this permission be given, and it was so ordered subject to the approval of the State Highway Commission. Chief of Police Duckett reported with reference to "no parking" on Sheridan Street between Grant and School. The recommendation of the Traffic Division is to the effect that nothing be done relative to this small area until arrangements can be made for "no parking?. on one side of the street for the entire distance or the street widened. City Engineer Hodgin and Chief of Police Duckett reported on their investigation as to the narrow alley between South A and Park Place and South Ninth and South Tenth. It is their recommendation that this alley be vacated and the matter be taken up with the adjacent property owners. Chief of Police Duckett reported that he had received numerous complaints relative to the fact that the Meyer Bros . Drug Store keep the iron 'doors , located in the sidewalk on North Ninth Street, open during business hours and that the same constitutes a hazard. The matter was referred to the City Attorney . A motion was made by Mr. Hodgin and seconded by Mr. Urban, and it was so ordered, that Mrs. John R. Wright,. 1905 North A Street, be per- mitted to run a water line from her property to the main water line on North 20th Street in and along North A Street after she has made the proper deposit at the City Building. After allowing claims in the amount of 14,494.63, upon proper motion the Board adjourned. Preside t Attest: ec e a y
