FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1945. :The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, October. 5th, 1945 at 9:00 o' clock A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, Winfield Urban, and S. W. Hodgin being present the following pro- ceedings were had to wit:- The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. City Engineer, S. W. Hodgin, reported that Jesse Parshall had I/ filed a request for the installation of a light on North 29th Street. This matter was referred to the City Engineer for consultation with the Superintendent of the City Light Plant . The City Engineer was instructed to contact the Superintendent of the Light Plant to ascertain why there were no lights in the Seventh Street Park. Councilman George Brehm referred a complaint about the City Bus Service taking people; to activities at the High School along the Whitewater Boulevard. City Engineer Hodgin reported that he had already taken this matter up with Mr. Alyea; Manager of the Bus Lines; "woo will contact Councilman Brehm. Councilman Frank Marino referred a complaint about the speed of • automobiles on the city streets, especially the taxi cabs. This was referred to the Traffic Division. - Mr. Harry F. Henley, 201 North 14th Street , appeared before the Board and presented a plan along with a sketch relative to the stoppage of mud flowing into the Glen Miller Lake . This matter was referred to the City Engineer and Park Superintendent Posther. A request by petition to cut the curb in front of Lot 259, Elizabeth Starr' s Addition, on the south side of North A Street, near North 12th Street, was approved by the Board. Mr. Robert Lawler appeared 'before the Board and requested per- mission to excavate the alley in the rear of 918 Main Street for the purpose of putting a basement under his store . Permission was granted with the understanding that the alley must be replaced in as good condition as it now is when his excavation work is completed. Mr. Lawler was so informed.
