The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday September 28th. 1945 at 9 :00 O'clock A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, Winfield Urban and S. W. Hodgin being present the following pro- ceedings were had to-wit : The minutes of the preceding.meeting were read and approved. Fire Chief Williams presented th.e application of Lawrence Ghearing for a position on the fire depattment, and recommended his appointment as a temporary fireman, with appropriate rate of pay. Based on such recommendation it was moved by Mr. Hodgi.n ,with second by Mr. Urban, that Mr. Gb.earing be appointed as a temporary fireman as of. October 1st . 1945. The motion carried. Street Commissioner Burkhardt requested that an ordinance be passed to transfer g50 from Tire and Tube Account No. 194 and 150 f'rtm Special Street Account No. 517 to the two oil accounts . The City Attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance. Police Chief Duckett recommended that there be "no parking" restrictions placed on both sides of North A Street between North 4th. and North 5th. Streets . His recommendations were approved. He also suggested that the possibility of widening the driveway hettiR Rxm by setting back the curbs at the above location be given consideration. The matter was referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. Park Superintendent Posther advised that he had secured a bid of S00 for painting the Commuiity House at Glen Miller Park. This bid was considered too high and he was instructed to look into the possibility of having the work done on an hourly basis . Permit was granted Clark O. Gardner to cut the curb, for a driveway at 2301 Glen Court. After allowing clains in an amount of 15 &Y7O �, on proper motion the Board adjourned. /' 44kt' Acfing,8ecretary
