The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of said Board Friday, July 27th. , 1945, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker, B. W. Hodgin and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to-wit : The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and 1/ approved, after minor corrections. Building Inspector Smith reported that the insulation had broken down on the wires, in the conduit, seriiing the lights on the Police Radio Tower, and recommended that the wired be replaced and drainage holes be placed in the conduit to remove the water of condensation. City Engineer Hodgin was instructed to investigate and arrange for necessary repairs and consider having the work done by the Light Plant, if possible. The Building Inspector also reported that the coal hopper of the stoker in the city building is rusted out and should be replaced before fall. He recommended that, in the replacement, the hopper be enlarged so as to hold sufficient coal to last the entire night in cold weather. City Engineer Hodgin was instructed to investigate and arrange for repairs , reporting back to the Board. The haads of the various departments reported on their activities and received instructions , where necessary. Mr. Ross, superintendent of the sewage disposal plant, reported that certain industrial plants were dumping organic waste near the disposal plant, without burying such matter, causing a nuisance. The City Attorney advised that he would contact the offending parties , to have the practice stopped. Street Commissioner Burkhardt reported on the progress he was making in the street repair program and received the approval of the Board.
