OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, JULY 13th, 1945.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday,
July 13th, 1945 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Messrs . Earl Keisker,
S. W. Hodgin and Winfield Urban being present the following
proceedings were had to=wit:
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
The motion of Mr. Hodgin was approved that the $92.00
bid for the painting of the interior of the radio station by
Mr. 0. F. Jones be accepted. This quotation included both.
labor and material. `
The Board ordered that Mrs . Roberta Barfield be appointed
a temporary radio operator at a salary of 170.00 per month.
Her work is to commence July 16th, 1945.
Mr. Lyboult was authorized to contact Mr. Stevens of The
Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant regarding the
purchase and installation of four lights for the north soft-
ball diamond. The total cost of installation is to be
charged to The Recreation Fund.,
A report was made by City Engineer, S. W. Hodgin and
Sanitary Inspector, W. P. Smith on the drainage condition
at South 5th and "M" Streets .
The Board was advised by Park Superintendent Richard,
Posther, that the Spring in the back part of Glen MillerPark
had been repaired.
Pursuant to proper publication in the local newspaper
the Board was ready to receive bids on a light weight coach
automobile for the Police Department . Since no bids were
received the Chief of Police was authorized to investigate the
possibility of obtaining the car locally oh the open market.
The Board ordered an increase in the amount of flire €and
extended coverage protection on city owned property as.
advised
by The Underwriters Service Association on account of the
appreciation of said property. Said recommendation is , on file
in the office of The City Clerk.
Claims were approved by The Board in the amount of
$9,756.89. P
Upon proper motion the Board adjo ned.
