HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-08-1945 9 OFFICE OF THE'BOARD OF WORKS_ CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, JUNE 8TH, 1945. • • The -Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, June gth, 1945, at 9:.00 o°clock A. M. -- Messrs. .Earl Keisker, S. W. Hodgin and Winfield Urban being -present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved'. Mr. Ross, Superintendent of the Disposal Plant reported the Grit Collector at the plant had been installed andrecommend.ed that the deposit check be returned to the Jefferies Mfg. Co. Columbus , Ohio. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved the temporary appointment of Robert E. Cook as a City Fireman effective June 16th, 1945. , On the recommendation of the Building Inspector the Board approved the moving of a house over the streets of the City , South on Easthaven Avenue toWest A Street, then East to Southwest 16th Street then South on Southwest 16th Street Street to No. 165 Southwest 16th Street said • application being made by Gus J. Oberle Sons. Street Superintendent Burkhardt re-nnrted. in order to obtain good service from the pickup truck of the Healtihg8anitatiOn7Departme t it -`_ would be necessary to install a new receiving set in the said truck so that emergency calls could be taken care of without delay. .. The matter was referred to City Engineer Hodgin & Street Commissioner Burkhardt for attention. Friday June gth, 1945 being the date designated by the Board for the receiving of remonstrances against the vacation of an alley located between North 17th & l8th Streets, running from North G Street , Southwardly to the aley running Eastwardly and Westwardly , first North of North F St. mentioned in Declaratory Resolution No. 2-1945, and there being no remons- trances offered - the Board unanimously confirmed the adoption of the said Declaratory Resolution, flaming Friday,Ju4 22nd at 9:30 A. M. as the time for the fixing of benisfits & damages in the matter of the said vacation. The Board approved the release of bond on Lee Flora in the matter of the curb gasoline pump on the North side of Main Street near 16th Street in front of the property no owned by the Jenkins Vulcan Spring Co. , after the the gas pump was removed. The Board also instructed the Clerk to notify the property owner to remove the cement base which the pump was installed upony &I Which extended about six inches above the sidewalk level making the said obstruction even with the sidewalk. Friday , June 8th, 1945 being the date designated by the Board for the receiving of bids for a stoker at the Street Department Garage bids being as follows; Engineers Sales & Service, full installation; • One H-225 Fairbanks Morse Hopper Type Stoker for the sum of $913.98 If Electric Service Line is installed bg the City deduct 69.9 (cont'd) 2 Mather Bros. • Installation of one No. l2l Iron Fireman Automatic goal Stoker complete • with lines stetter , pressure regulator, low water cut off, and refueling controll, installed at 'City Carage for the sum of 00 $950900. The eagle insulating Co. presented a bid but the samw was not accompanied by a certified check therefore was out 'of consideration. The other bids were referred to City Engineer Hodgin and City Street Commissioner Burkhardt for consideration and recommendation. After allowing claims in the amount of $ 4,664.4 on proper motion the Board adjourned. F President Attest; ofr___/44, Clerk of the Board.
