REGULAR MEETING
A Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret was called to order by Council President Jorge Diaz at
6:00 P.M., Thursday June 22, 2017, Council Chambers, Memorial
Municipal Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey.
Upon Individual Roll Call Vote the following were noted present: ROLL CALL

Also noted present was Kathleen M. Barney, Municipal Clerk and NOTED PRESENT
Robert J. Bergen, Law Director.

The meeting was opened with a moment of silent prayer and the SILENT PRAYER / PLEDGE
Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Randy Krum. of ALLEGIANCE
The Clerk stated that on January 6, 2017, the 2017 Annual Notice STATEMENT OF MEETING
was mailed to The Home News Tribune, The Star Ledger and posted NOTICE
on the Bulletin Board January 6, 2017. Notice was published in The
Home News Tribune and The Star Ledger on January 11, 2017.

Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Bellino and Johal and OPEN TO PUBLIC
unanimous affirmative vote of the Six (6) Councilmembers present,
the Public Hearing was opened to the public.
Kevin Urban asked for clarity on Ordinance #17 -11 KEVIN URBAN
Robert J. Bergen: The 6.5 Million has already been awarded to ROBERT. J BERGEN
the Borough. This is just an Ordinance to allow you to spend it.You
have already received that money, so you have to have a
mechanism by which Patrick DeBlasio can put it into the budget and
you can actually spend it.
Council President Diaz: It's a fully funded Grant for the COUNCIL PRESIDENT DIAZ
Waterfront Project.

Robert J. Bergen: The special matters of over the course of
about six (6) months. It's authorizing that amount
but it is not automatically expending that amount.
It will be separate resolutions to spend it.

years. PC Richard's unloading trucks overnight.

John Dupont.
Council President Diaz: Sir, if you could leave your number

BUILDINGS & GROUNDS — Committee Chairman Johal reported
progress.
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION — I just want to close by saying The
Mayor was unable to make tonights meeting because he was asked
to attend and speak at the Graduation tonight at the High School.
So once again we wish the Graduates of the Class of 2017 the best
of luck in their future endeavors
FIRE & DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS — Committee Chairman Krum
stated the Fire Department is getting younger and better looking
and reported progress.

PARKS, RECREATION & PUBLIC PROPERTY — Committee Chairman
Bellino stated progress
POLICE - Committee Chairman Naples stated the Police
Department is in the process of filling ten (10) slot. There have
been ten (10) candidates interviewed for full time positions in the
Police Department. As the application process continues, we
should have those recruits in the Academy in July. This months
Crime Prevention meeting on June 14t focused on summer safety
and highlighted what to do when you go away on summer vacation
and how to protect your home.
PUBLIC WORKS - Committee Chairman DiMascio reported
progress.
BOARD OF EDUCATION — Committee Chairman Naples stated the
Middle School graduated yesterday, it was a great promotional
excercise. I would also like to wish all our Middle School students
much success, a special shout out to two (2) of my colleagues
Councilman Krum's Granddaughter Ryan and Councilman Diaz's
daughter Karina Diaz, Congratulations on their Middle School
Graduation. Carteret High School is Graduating as we speak this
evening and we also wish all students and staff of the Carteret
Public Schools a healthy and restful summer.
After no further discussion, upon MMS &C by Councilmembers ADJOURNED
Bellino and Krum and unanimous affirmative vote of the six (6)
Councilmembers present, the meeting was Adjourned at
approximately 6:012 P.M.
