HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-09-1945 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OP WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, • FEBRUARY 9TH, 194+5 • The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the pffice of said Board , Friday ,- February 9th, 1945, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. --- Messrs.Earl. Keisker , S. W. Hodgin & Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mrs.Willard Morgan, Mrs. Brehm Jackson and Mrs. Dwight McQuisten appeared before the Board in the interest of a petition which had been ' referred to the Board from the Common Council as regards traffic on North- west Fifth Street during the various times when school children are cross- ing and the same was referred to the Traffic Division for a report later to the .Board. - The Board unanimously approved permission be granted to the. Wesson Co - ' operator of City Buses to extendAheir-service temporary , from the Starr Piano Building to the Main.:Street line, at such time as required. The Board authorized the Clerk to make proper advertisement giving notice to bidders that sealed proposals. Will- be received by it at it's - office in the City Building for pipe,fittings & other equippinent for the ' use of the Disposal Plant at Earlham Pumping Station and the Board desig- nated Friday, February 23rd as the time for the receiving of bids. ' The Board approved the purchase and laying of lynoleum with cove finish . on the office room at the Police Radio Station. The Board unanimously approved the following resolution; That the various Departments such as the Police Department and the Park Department which did not receive any bids on2cars , elv-ainbulance and one truck,be authorized to locate same and report to the Board. A report was presented .to the Board which had been referred from the Common Council in regard to the lack of trash collections, in the North portion of the City for a period of 90 days, as reported by Councilman Marino. The Board also received a report from Councilman Kinder which stated no trash collection had occured on the North side of Main Street on the Newt side for a period of ten weeks. Both reports were referred- to the Street Department. - The,JBpard 'gat this time balled fors_a.�.recese4or-a. period and reconvened later. On the recommendation of the Mayor , Glen B. Kenney was appointed as a regular Fireman , effective February 15th, 1945. III -- The Board also approved the temoprary appointment of Sylvio Sticcio as • a. City Fireman Effective February 15th, 1945. -On the recommendation of Fire Chief Williams the Board approved the temporary appointment of Homer Carpenter to serve on the fire department during the absence of Beatrice Kelley at No. 2 Hose House who is reported sick. Mr. Carpenter to serve for the sum of $130.00 per month., effective February Sth, 1945. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Williams the Board approved the rank of Lieutenant on the Fire Department to Kenneth Yeager &tNol,Hose House & Ralph Winn at No. 4 Hose House., effective March 1, 1945. Price delivered $997.50 The Bids were referred to a committee composed of City Engineer, Street ' Sgperintendent & City Controller fo tabulation & recommendation, After allowing claims- in the amount of $6,625.91 on proper motion the Board adjourned. • • President .
