JANUARY 27TH, 1945.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Saturday, January 27,194+5,
in a Special Session, at IO.,30 o'clock A. M.--- Messrs. Earl Keisker,
S. W. Hodgin and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings
were had to-wit;
The reading of the minutes of the preceding meeting was dispensed with.
A letter was presented to the Board from Mr. Luther Feger representing
the Palladium-Item requesting permission of the Board to leave certain
lights on around their plant in order to protect the same, and the Board
referred the matter to. the Superintendent of the Light Plant.
On the recommendation of the Committee appointed to, tabulate the bids
on the trucks for the Street Department the Board awarded the contract to
Howard Thompson Orr low bid for four International Trucks in accordance with
his bid with cab shields for the sum, of $25.00 extra each.
A majority of the Committee appointed by the Board of Public Works and
Safetyto investigate what method should be used in regulating the'Brown Out"
recommended that the Board assume the responsibility of street lighting.
-for public safety and all other requests for exemption from the "Brown Out"
shall be passed upon by the Superintendent of the Municipal Electric Light
& Power Plant and the Common Council who act as a Board of Managers.
Mr. Urban moved and Mr. Hodgin seconded the acceptance of the recommen-
dation of the Committee , which the Board unanimously approved.
