SATSATURDALDEMBER 30th, 1944
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Ridimond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board,Saturday, December Pth, 1944
at 9:00 ooclock A. M. o_ Messrs. Winfield Urban, Earl Keisker and
S. W. Hodgin being present the following proceedings were had to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meetings were read and approved.
Mr. Hodgin stated due to the fact that it was the usual policy of
the Board to elect a Chairman for the en-suing year on the last Board
meeting of the year he would therefore move that Mr. Winfield Urban's
nameti be"..p]:aced}in-nomination- as,;Chairman of the Board of Public Works .. -
and Safety for the year 1945, and that the nomination be closed.With
a second by Keisker the motion was unanimously approved® and Mr. Urban
wasdeclared elected as Chairman of the Board..
A letter was presented to the Board from the Standard Insulating Co.
requesting that a no parking zone be established except for loading and
unloading on South llth Street at the rear of the building occupied by the
said Company, at llth & Main Street. The same was referred to the Traffic
Division and on recommendation of the Traffic Division the Board rejected
the request of the Standard Insulation Co.
On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved
the resignation of Jack Witherby from the Fire Department effective Dec-
ember 23,.1944. The Board also approved the resignation of Maurice Wise
from the Fire Department effective December 1944.
Fire Chief Harry Williams reported to the Board that Glenn Kenney
who was- a.pointed as temporary fireman had become 35 years of age before
he was eligible for a Permanent appointment and the pension Board of
Fireman had declared him in-eligible for pension. The matter was referred to
the City Attorney for a report later.
After allowing claims in the amount of $10,932.44 on proper motion
the Board adjourned.
