FRIDAY , JULY 7-th, 1944
The Board of Public Works and gafety of the City of Richmond, Indiana
met in the office of said Board , Friday , July 7th, 1944, at 9:00 o'clock
A M. --- Messrs Winfield Urban. Earl Keisker & S. W. Hodgin. being present
the following proceedings were had to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approvod.
Mr. Milburn Holems & Rex Rench appeared before the Board representing
the emp7.. yetis of the National Automatic Tool Company requesting Permission
to place?-waitsStation for service men who are obtaining rides out. of the
City in the parkway locatedeEir"steStreet &:.Nat.iona.l-,Road West and after
• consideration the Board approved. the installation of -the same ; the location
to be decided according to the Traffic Division and the petitioners.
Fire Chief Harry Williams reported to the Board that on a. number of occasions
in the removal of trees for the Gas Co.the lines for the Fire-Alarm system had
been cut and the Chief recommended thlm•t the Gas Co. be required to -notify the
Fire Department in order to> brotect the lines of the Fire Alarm System. The
same was referred to the City Attorney,Keisker.

• On the recommendation of the Committee appointed to tabulate the bids
on the Material Spreader for the use of the Street Department the Board approved
the purchase of the same from the Reid-Holcomb Co. Indianapolis, Indiana, on the
• Alternate No.3 big. for the sum of $670.00 with the added attachment amounting to
$40.00 Total $710.00.
The Board approved the request of to install grate in the
side walk located in front of the Remodel Shop k.l4 North 8th Street subject to the
approval of the Building Inspector.

The City Attorney was instructed to write the necessary letter in regard
to the assistance of the Richmond Laundry & Cleaning. Co.. in replacing their
equipment in order reduce the emoke which comes from their plant.

of bids for the furnishing of Coal of the various Depattments of the City , bids
being as follows;

The Coal bids were referred to the City Engineer, Fire Chief, and City
Controller for tabulation and recommendation and after due-consideration
the Committee recommended that the contract for furnishing the Coal to
the various departments be awarder to Sam Jaffe & Muff Grain & Coal Co.
as follows, in accordance with their bids.

gAfter allowing claims in the amount of $ 13 5U, /P-on proper motion
the Board adjourned.
