CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY JUNE 30TH, 1944
The Beard of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
. Indiana, met in the office of said Board,Friday , June 30th, 1944,
at 9:00 .o"clock A. M. -- Messrs. Winfield Urban & S9 W. Hodgin being
present the following proceedings were had to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
City Engineer Hodgin presented a report in regard to the trouble
the smoke had created on South 7th- Street and vicinity from the
Richmond Laundry, stating an investigation had been made.. by the Committee
appointed to do to a.rd they found the bofii.ery0as being fired to heavily
for it°stcapacity toehandlp the Coal also the grade of coal was not Pocahontas
as had been reported thus cr:eati•ng, more smoke. Mr. Hodgin also stated the
manager was present when the investigation was made and had agreed to help
remedy the situation as to the purchase of new equippment if possible and etc.
The matter was taken under further advisement with City Attorney Keisker,
A petition was presented to the Board Earl Toney and signed by g
affected citizens requesting permission to have the alley paved. located
East Of Southwest First Street and West and North of the Property owned
by the School City of Richmond, the same being referred to City Engineer
Hodgin for consideration.
The Aommittce-appointed to tabulate the bids
on the Material Spreader for the Street Department recommended: -e the
purchase of the same from the Reid Holcomb Co. , Indianapolis, Indiana,
as described in Alternate Bid N . 3 "Berne" Model Champion Material Spreader
No.10 for the sum of $670.00 F. O. B. Richmond, Indiana.
On the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett the Board approved the
right for traffic to turn right on red comming from the west at the intersection
of North 5th & D Street and ordered that signes be installed designating

On the recommendation of the Traffic Division and Fire Chief the Board
approved & no-parkiiag_zone be established on the' West side of Hunt Street
from Northwest I Street to the First Alley North and on the North Side>bf
Northwest I Street from Hunt Street East,to-the E .st ,sic'ie-•.of?-the-Church,
signs:'. to be installed designating such, order. •
On the recommendation of Police Chief Duchett the Board accepted the
resignationof Daniel E. Johnson from the Police Department effective
July 1st, 1944.
At the reauest of Mr. Atwood Jen3ins the Board terminated the bond
which had. been required from 0. H. Little .in the operation of a filling
Station in the first block west of the Doran Bridge on Richmond Avenue
the same being out of operation.
Mr Don Bell appeared before the Board in the .matter of re-appraisment
of the City Property,representing the Richmond ' :re-and Casualty Association
and recommended an increase of $30,400.00 at a cost of $160.00. Mr. Bell stated.
h4 would hold the said amount under binder until the Board could confer with
City Attorney Keisker for recommendation.

After allowing claims in the amount of $5,555.04 on proper motion
the Board adjourned.
