HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-12-1944 444 OFFICE OP THE-BOA D OF 'WORXS CITY OF ,RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY , MAY 12TH, 1944 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board , Friday£ May 12th, 1944 , at 9s00 o°clock :A. M. -- Messrs. Winfield_ Urban, Earl Keisker and S. W. Hod.gin being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read' and approved. - On the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett the Board approved the painting of the curb in front of Miller Bros. Hardware Co. from the driveway South th the first light pole designating no parking except for loading and unloading merchandise at their place of business. . Mr. Ed. Ross Superintendent of the Sewer Disposal Plant reported a representative from the State Board of Health had recommended that - the sewerage from the Perfect Cireil Plant be pre-treated before it was released in the Sanitary Sewer and the Perfect Circle Co had ag- - 1- . reed to comply with the request. A petition was presented to the Board as follows; dated May 9th, 1944 Gentlemen the undersigned owners of real estate abutting on and in the vicinity of South P. Street from South gth Street to the C & 0 Railway and Alley between south gth & 9th Street, from South P. Street to South Q, Street respectfully petition for the passage of a resolution providing for the vacation. of a. portion of South P Street, from South gth Street to C & 0 Railway and Alley between South Sth Street & 9th Street from South P. Street to the South Line of Lot 53 & 110 Bealview, Addition. We the petitioners agree 'to pay any reasonable assessment in regard to the the vacation of the said alley. Signed; Bell & Wallace Mfg. Co. Walter E. Wallace , President. The petition was referred. to City Engineer 'Hodgin'forerscommendation. The Building inspector presented a report in regard to repairs which should be made at the Police Radio Station, and the Board recommended that' a further :i:nsDeotion be made aslrepairs needed at the Police Radio Station and tthe-Bui1ding Inspector be present with a report at the next regular ineeting of the Board May 19th, 1944, at 9:00 o'clock. A. M. • On the recommendation of the Committee appointed to tabulate the estimated sum for the repair of the Police Station. roof and etc; the Board approved the repairs be made accrding to the proposal of`'thec. Roland Swisher Co.for the sun of $250.g0 as .the Building Inspector %_, reported the Roland Swisher Co. were the only firm which would submit an estimate. Also a°WortiOn of"the .alley between':South Sth`& 9th' Street . from the South Line of South P Street to the South property line of Lot1s 53, & 110 Beallview Addition, in the City of Richmond, County of Wayne, and State of Indiana, which alley and street proposed to be vacated is more par- - ticularly described as follows to-wit; of - Beginning on the South Line S4-P Street , at the Northwest Corner of Lot No. 47 , Beallview Addition ; thence Southwardly along the East Line of said alley to the Southwest Corner of Lot No. 53, same addition; thence westwardly' to the Southeast corner of Lot No. 110, same addition: thence northwardly along the west line of said alley to the South Line of South P. Street: thence Eastwardly along the South Line of South P. Street to the place of beginning, Also to vacate street Beginning on the Last side of South Sth, Street at the Southwest Corner of Lot No. 102, Beallview Addition; thence E; ctwardly along the North Line of South P. Street, to the West Line of Right-of-Way of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad of Indiana; thence Sou'thwardly along the West Line of Right-of-Way of. said Railroad to the South Line of South P Street; thence Westwardly along the South Line of South P Street to the East Line of South 8th Street; thence Northwardly along the East Line of South 8th Street, to the place of beginning; All as shown by a Plat of such proposed vacation now on file in the office of the Deaprtment of Public Works of said City. The property which may be injuriously or benificially affected in the said City of Richmond by said proposed vacation is known and described as the alley and street herein proposed to be vacated and the lots abutting on the alley and street and both sides thereof, owned by Bell & Wallace Co- mpany of Richmond, Indiana.. After 'allowing claims in the amount of $14, 94 .9/ - on proper motion the Board adjourned. President Attest. Clerk of the Board
