HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-24-1944 4,10 OFFICE OF !'HE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, MARCH 24TH, 1941 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday , March 24th, 1944 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. --Messrs. Winfield Urban, Earl Keisker, and S. W. Hodgin being present the followdg proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved the appointment of Melvin E. Farr as a Temporary Fireman ' at a salary of $1g5.00 per month effective April 1st, 1944. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved a leave of absence to' Everett Biddle from the Fire Dep- artment for the purpose of entering the armed service of the United States Government , effective March 25th, 1944. On the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett the Board approved a leave of absence to Lewis Daniels from the Police Department for the purpose of entering the armed service of the United States Government eff ectitc April 1st, 1944. On the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett , the Board app- roved a temporary appointment of Milo Brann as Police Mechanic at a salary of $195.50 per month, effective April let, 1944. The matter of closing up the windows at the Earlham Pumping Station was referred to City Engineer Hodgin for consideration. The Board instructed the Building Inspector to present an estimate for the repairs of a gutter and etc. over the Police Station and Police garagee Onethe-recommendation of Park Superintendent Frisby the Board approved the cutting of a tree located at 411 South 10th Street by a Mr. Garrett. On the recommendation of Park Superintendent Frisby the Board approved the cutting of a tree on the South 5th Street frontage of the Market House Property. A request was presented to the Board for the repair of an alley located between South 6th and 7th Streets from e to E Streets, the sarpe being referred to the Street Superintendent. The following proposals were presented to the Board for the furnishing of paint,to paint the fence at the Municipal Base Ball Park; James F. Harrington Inc. Harrington Inc. be accepted which was unanimously approved on a per gallon basis. After allowing claims in the amount of $10,175.g2 on proper motion the Board adjourned.
