AN ORDINANCE AMENDING §254 -26, ENTITLED "SCHEDULE VIII: VEHICLE
WEIGHT LIMITS ", OF CHAPTER 254 ENTITLED VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC OF
THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret, a municipal
corporation of the State of New Jersey, located in Middlesex County, thereof. as follows:
Section 1 . §254 -26, entitled "Schedule VIII: Vehicle Weight Limits" of Chapter 254 of the
Carteret Code entitled "Vehicles and Traffic" is hereby amended and supplemented to include
the following additional roadway:
Vehicles over the gross weight (GVW) are hereby excluded from the streets or parts of streets
described except for the pickup and delivery of materials on such streets.

Section 2 . All Ordinances and /or provisions thereof inconsistent with the provision of this
Ordinance shall be and are hereby repealed as to the extent of such inconsistencies.
Section 3 . If any section, subsection, part, clause or phrase of this Ordinance shall be
declared invalid by judgment of any Court of competent jurisdiction, the section, subsection,
part, clause or phrase shall be deemed to be severable from the remainder of this Ordinance.
Section 4 . This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication according to
applicable law.

The foregoing ordinance was introduced at a meeting of the
Council of the Borough of Carteret held May 18-2017 when it was
adopted on first reading.
The said ordinance will be further considered on second readin for
final adoption at a meeting of said Council of the Borough of

Ju 6_ 2017 at approximately 6:00 P.M., Borough
Hall /Council Chambers, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey at
which time and place all persons interested will be given
an opportunity to be heard.
