OFFICE OF THE; BOARD OF IORKS -
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY JANUARY 21, 19 +
The Board of Public Works and. Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Briday, January 21st,1944
at 9:00 o'clock A. M.---Messrs. Earl Keisker and S. W. Hodgin
being present the following proceedings were had to-wi;
The minutes Of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
Chief of Police Ellis Duckett reported the Air Compressor in
,the Police Department Garage had blown up and damaged on car also
a portion of the ceilling and a window the same would be taken care of
by insurance except the d?ma,ge to the car, therefore it would be necessary
to replce the compressor, as-specified, z horse power motor complete
including 30 gallon tank with twin cylinder compressor.
The Board recommended that specifications be presented to at least
three dealers requesting proposals for the same and report to the Board
at the next regular meeting.
Fire Chief Harry Williams reported the necessary priority had been
granted for the purchase of a truck for the use of the Fire Department.
The Board confirmed the purchase of the truck for the use of the Fire
Department From E. H. Gilcrest Co. according to priorities granted and
specifications mentioned-intheir bid for the sum of $1,000.00 delivered.
Street Commissioner Carl Meyers reported an un-necessary amount of
t'cash,dirt and etc. had been allowed to accumulate by the Metal Specialty
Co. in the alley adjoining their factory creating a hinderance to traffic
in that location.
The Board instructed -be. the Clerk to notify the Metal Specialty Co .
to remove the trash dirt & etc created by their factory as soon as
possible in order to avoid an accident which might occur, on account of
the same.
A petition was presented to the Board which was referred to that body
by the 8ommon @ouncil of the: City of Richmond, Indiana, at their regular
meeting Monday, January 17th, 19444 ° signed by 158 citizens located in .
the Beallview Addition 'requesting a sewer be installed to servo that immediate
locality from L. to Q streets and adjoining streets thereof, the same being
referred to the City Engineer for consideration and recommendation.
The matter of drainage at the intersection of North llth & 13th north
12th & 13th with North C Street also North 12th & I Streets having been
referred to the Board by the Common Council , was referred further to the
Street Department for consideration.
Street Commissioner Carl Meyers reported that a tree located in front
of the property at the Northeast 8orner of 21st & Main Street should be
removed in order to eliminate further damage to a sewer inlet at that location
and the Board instructed the Clerk to notify the property owner to remove
the same .
After allowing claims in the amount of $147.88 on proper motion
