OFFICE OF THE 'BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
DECEMBER 31ST, 1943

The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, December 31st,
1943, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. - S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker and
Winfield Urban being present, the following'proceedings were had
to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meeting were raed and approved.
Fire Chief Harry Williams reported he had contacted various
supply houses relative to securing ladders for the use of the
Fire Deaprtment. The Board then instructed Mr. Williams to confer:
with the Clerk of the Board and arrange to send fbtmg-for proposals
to the various firms which had been contacted in regard to furnishing
ladders.
Street Commissioner,,,•,,Cp�rl Meyers requested the Board to establish
hia Committee which could m authority to block off certain streets
of the City for the purpose of coasting by children in various sec-
tions of the City and the Board appointed the following Committee
consisting of City Engineer Hodgin, Chief of Police Duckett and
Fire Chief Harry Williams to serve for such purpose.
The Clerk was instructed to contact the various Oil Distributors
of the City and obtain prices for furnishing supplies to the various
departments of the City.,after January 1st, 1944
Park Superintendent Frisby was instructed to confer with the
Clerk of the Board and submitthe necessary for`nto the WPB so as to
secure the proper priority for the purchase of the Royer Sludge Dis-
integrator.
Attention was called to the usual proceedure of Electing a member
of the Board to serve as Chairman for the en-suing year and Mr. Keisker
moved that Mr. Urban be elected to serve as Chairman for the year 1944.
With a proper second the motion was unanimously approved and Mr. Urban
was declared elected as Chairman of the Board, for the year 1944.
The following letter was presented to the Board from the Shell Oil
Co. stating;.
Weare pleased to quote you on your requirements of Shell
Gasoline for. the period January 1 to December 31st 1944as follows;
Shell's posted ConsumerTank Wagon Priceon date of delivery ,
excluding federal tax which does not apply ,less 1.50 cents per
gallon .
Today's price thit'basis is 14.50 cents per gallon)
