The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, December 3rd, 1943, at 9:00 A. M -- Messrs S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Ploice Chief Duckett appeared before the Board requestink certain repairs be made ofi the garage at the Police Radio Station sufficient to make it available to work in as a lot of repairs were made in it,and it was necessary to have repairs:.horde in'orderT.to.'rotain the heat in the garage,also that a coil and pipes should be installed in the furnace so that hot water would be available. The Board referred the matter to the Building Inspector for a report later. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved the appointment of Harry Robinson as Assistant Fire Chief,effective as of December 1st, 1943, on the same recommendation the Board approve the tem- porary appointment of Glen B. Kenney as City Fireman who had been released for the replacement of Roland Miller who had returned from the armed service of the United States 8 the appointment of Mr. Kenney being effective as of December 3rd, 1943. The Board also approved leave of absence. to Ernest 0, Fed.erio to enter -the U. S. armed service effective Dec. gth , 1;113. Specifications and etc. were presented to the Board for a stoker for the use of the Street Department Garage and the Board ordered that the proper legal advertising be had for the same , designating December 17th, 1943 at 9b30 o'clock A. M. as the time when sealed proposals will be re- ceived by the Board. • A request to cut the curb to a width of 12 feet was granted to Swayne Robinson Co. located between 2nd and 3rd Street on North A Street. Friday , December 3rd, 1943 , at 9:30 o'clock being the time and date designated by the Board for the receiving of proposals for a dirt shredder for the use of the Park Department and the there being no bide presented the matter was referred to City Attorney Keisker foe legal information to some interested bidders. Friday , December the 3rd 1943-, at.e9830 o'clock A. M. being the date designated by the Board for the receiving of bids for bleachers for the Ball Diamonds , the bids are as follows; UNIVERSAL BLEACHER CO. , CHAMPAIGN ,ILL.
