The Board of- Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in the office of saidBoard , Friday , October 1st, 1943, at 9:00 o 'clock A. -M. --- Messrs. S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker : and Winfield Urban being present the following proceed?i n gs were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. 'II/ . A request to improve the`driveway ,andfepair the sidewalk in front of the Wayne Dairy 42 South 6th Street was approved by the Board. A report -was presented to the Board in regard to trees being cut by various property owners between the sidewalk and the curb without per- mission of the Board and the Board recommended that property owners be notified of the existing ordinance which provide that permission be granted from the Board for the same. On the recommendation of the Building Inspector the Board approved the installation ofmanhole in the sidewalk abbuting the property of the Roland Swisher Furnace Co. for the purpose of unloading Coal in their basement. Bi i�s for the painting of the Police Radio Tower were presented to the & Board as follows; 1,71:Hc' Juerl ng rand Son For painting the Tower with the City furnishing the Paint---- $642.00 Morrow & Parker - Furnish paint and paint the tower $700.00 If City furnishes the paint $50.00 deducted from bid. All the bids were rejected by the Board as they were. higher than estimate. A report was presented to the Board by W. E. Ross , Superintendent of the Disposal Plant in regard to the replcement of certain parts of machiney at the Disposal Plant and the following recommendation in regard to the transfer of-funds was was presented; that it is advisable to increase the - amount of the parts of Equipment Fund , Acc.#lob, by $175.00 ,S100.00 of - which could be taken from the General Supply Fund , Acc.#104, and $75.00 from the Gasoline Fund Account +9S. These repairs were made necessary by breakdowns which could not be anticipated and which are not the result of improper operating methods. The money is available in the gasoline Fund due to the fact that we were able to complete the work on the aerators with much -less pumping than was anticipated. . . 7 The Board approved the recommendation of Mr. Ross and recommendated that an ordinance be prepared and referred to the Common Council for their con- si deration. - After allowing claims in the amount of $5,762.92 n proper motion the Board adjourned. • President Attest.
