OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF MORKS : -
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3RD, 1943.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday,' September 3rd,
1943, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. --S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker and Win-
field Urban Being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; -
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
The Board discussed the matter of the various accidents which
h :,ve occured at the intersection of the•Netiona.l Roil and Southwest
. First' Street and after due consideration the Board recommended that
the-Clerk be instructed to notify the S ete Highway Commissier of
said accidents at that location and siggesting that a warning sin-:
be placed along the National Road sufficient to warn. drivers of the
. dangerous intersection d -
Friday,September 3rd. 1943, being the date designated by the
Board for .the receiving of. Proposals for the furnishing of 10 tons
of Rock Salt in bulk form for the use of the Street Department, the
proposals being as follows; Delivered to City Garage.
Eat ear Co. Richmond, Indiana 10 tons Rock Salt in bags
100 lbs. each . Teal $213.50 , •
. - International Salt Co. Cincinnati, Ohio,
10 tons in bulk Forma-. 113,26 .
The bids were referred to a Committee composed. of Mr. Hodgin,-
City Engineer, Mr. Urban City Controller and Street Sunerint_endent Mr.
Meyers. , ro- After due consideration the Committee recommended. that
the Salt be purchased of the ,International Salt Company Ind. for the
sum of $ 113.26 delivered, which the Board unanimously approved;, •

Friday , September 3, 1943, being the date designated by the
Board for the filing of a remonstrance against an ithprovement on
Northwest 16th-Street in regard to the construction of a cement sidewalk a
five foot wide,also curb and gutter from F^',est Main Street to- a 255foot
street .north. -The -Board having adopted. Empr6rMent Rosc!ution No. 2-1943
in regard to said .improvement and therm being no remonstrance filed
confirms the the adoption of the same.
The following resolution was adopted and approved. by thr Board. .
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY- OF RiCHMOND, INDiANA, that in the matter of bidders submitting
proposals for supplies or equipment in an amount for less than $500.00
the bidders must accompany their proposals with a certified check in
the amount of-105 of their-bid. , no sums to be less than $50.00 and
in matters where bidders are submitting proposals for material or
equipment in the .amount over $500.00 the bidders shall accompany
their -proposals with a certified check in a. sum of 5`�� of their bid
and not less than $100.00, unless in either case other amounts are
designated by the Board. -
